This somewhat comedic video is from Blake “DoctorAtlantis” Smith, who introduces it thusly: “I have posted a follow-up video based on several remarks from [pro-'juvenile Sasquatch'] posters. I think this video, while still mildly sarcastic, does contain some good analytic data.” {Warning: Loud music soundtrack.}
Women Take On Bigfoot
On MonsterQuest on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, it is all women on the track of “Bigfoot.” The show’s description has this to say: “Bigfoot has been sighted in Washington State more than any other place on earth. Join an all-female expedition as they try to lure a Bigfoot within range of their cameras. The 1967 Patterson footage will be reexamined using digital microscopes that could reveal details that might prove if the beast is real or a hoax.” I asked one of the members of the expedition, Monica Rawlins for some details. Her answers to my questions are below: Loren: [...]
2010 Olympics Mascots Go Crypto
The 2010 Olympics are taking on a decidedly cryptozoological slant with two of their three official mascots being partially based on cryptids. There is no doubt that the Sasquatch-influenced Quatchi and the weird Bear-Thunderbird-Guardian Spirit Sumi will give us much to ponder as these games get closer. I especially look forward to seeing what kind of Quatchi cultural and souvenir Sasquatch spillovers these British Columbian events will produce. But why the boots? Doesn’t that kind of defeat the fun of leaving big footprints behind?
The Top Ten Cryptozoology Stories for 2007
The Top Ten Cryptozoology Stories for 2007 by Loren Coleman, Cryptozoologist and Author, Mysterious America, Cryptozoology A to Z, and other books. From Bigfoot to Yeren, and from dwarf killer whales to dwarf manatees, it was quite a year. Welcome to this year’s top stories in cryptozoology. It wasn’t heaven during 2007 for the cryptids, but instead seemed to have been a year of reflection, mistakes, fakes, and a few new finds. In the 1940s, the Scottish-born American zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson (photo with lemur) began using a word he coined, “cryptozoology,” to describe a new discipline of science that [...]
MonsterQuest Marathon
The History Channel Sunday night, November 25th, through early Monday, November 26th, will broadcast the first four episodes of “MonsterQuest” for eight straight hours. Beginning at 8:00 PM Eastern until finished at 4:00 AM Eastern, the programs on Sasquatch, Champ, Giant Squid, and Birdzilla will be shown, one after the other, twice. According to the published listing, they will not be screened in the order of how they were originally broadcast. Instead, each four hour sequence is being kicked off with the “Sasquatch Attack” episode. Check your local listings. As far as I know, this is only occurring in the [...]
Bigfoot in the Sequoias?
These kinds of events happen probably more than we know. Before the internet and YouTube, this would all have merely been something people would talk about within the family. Now, it’s on the web. The sound quality is extremely low on this video, in spite of the title being called “Bigfoot Yell.” The track may be of more interest and worthy of comments.
Florida Confusion Continues
My gosh, now the media is throwing in Chupacabras to explain the Orangutan-Fox Squirrel-Spider Monkey reports from Baker County, Florida. Also, the Skunk Ape, Bigfoot, and something called the “Taylor Wild Man” are being pitched too. At least, they haven’t caught on to the Cryptomundian theory that it is a tree-stranded otter. Mark Lyons observes the trap set by FWC. Look, up in the tree. It’s a plane, it’s a bird, it’s … well, no one knows for sure exactly what it is. A sighting three weeks ago of what appeared to be a large, orange colored monkey in a [...]
Yeren Spotted in Shennongjia
Wild men spotted again in Shennongjia Two giant ape-like creatures were spotted in the afternoon of November 18, 2007, in Shennongjia, an area famous for the legendary “Bigfoot” Wild Man [or Yeren] located in central China’s Hubei Province. Four independently traveling tourists claimed that they were almost face to face with two Wild Men while touring around the Licha River, at the northern foot of Laojun Mountain. If their words prove to be true, the tourists will be the first eyewitnesses of “Bigfoot” in southeast Shennongjia Nature Reserve in recent years. According to a Changjiang Times report on November 20, [...]
BFRO Believes Florida “Orangutan” is “Spider Monkey”
This is David Wright. I happen to be the “Know-It-All” to whom you referred in your article on Cryptomundo.com. concerning the Florida ape. Please allow me to set you straight concerning this story and it’s culmination. First of all, I am a very active BFRO Investigator in N. E. Florida. Feel free to peruse my actual investigations on our site. We (BFRO) were made aware of this story early Wednesday, the 14th by somebody in the western U.S. who saw it on the Fox News website, and I was notified by another Investigator who knows this is my geographic area, [...]
The Sasquatch Gang Chapter Comics
The Sasquatch Gang movie opens next week, and a good article about the illustrations in the film can be found here. The Sasquatch Gang is broken into chapters, each separated by a comic-book-style illustration by artist Shawn McManus (“The Sandman,” “Swamp Thing”). Here are some samples, which give a feeling this movie may be weirdly Fortean and Bigfoot-aware. There are more examples, and you can make these bigger at the Comic Book Resources site.
