Hajicek’s MonsterQuest: Full Program Descriptions
Please note, the times are incorrectly given in the program art (above). “MonsterQuest” begins at 10:00 PM Eastern, and is repeated often in the following days, at various times. The History Channel debuts “MonsterQuest” Wednesday October 31st, 2007. The following is their press release regarding a summary of the series, and details on what is to be on each program. I think it has been understated, but it should be noted the series is by Doug Hajicek (pronounced high-check) and his Whitewolf Entertainment, Inc. Haijcek previously wrote, produced, and directed Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, which originally aired on the Discovery [...]
Posse Pursues Penn Ape
Corry, PA, Sept. 20. – (AP) – Fears of a “furry thing resembling an ape” subsided today in this Erie county community after a posse of farmers failed to locate the mysterious animal in a 48-hour search. The “thing” popped up Sunday [September 18] at the edge of a woods three miles south of Corry and sent Rose Marie Clabbatz, 13, and two smaller children of Howard Clabbatz, scurrying across the fields to their father. Clabbatz listened to their breathless story about an animal that “started chasing us” and organized a hunting party of 50 persons, many with guns. Yesterday [...]
In Pursuit of Cryptozoology
You have many choices of events to attend during the last quarter of 2007. Here are some visual reminders of the upcoming end of the year Cryptozoology conferences: Saturday, December 1, 2007, “Introduction to Cryptozoology,” Mythic Creatures, American Museum of Natural History, New York City, New York. The AMNH model of Gigantopithecus is part of the “Mythic Creatures” exhibition. These conferences and other recent gatherings have produced some rather elaborate and intriguing forms of promotional art, demonstrating a new love of monsters, creatures, and cryptids on posters. Perhaps we are entering a new era of creative imagery in cryptozoological art [...]
Cryptozoology’s Subdivisions
Yep, that’s me. Getting carried away with my passion for all things cryptozoological. I noticed today on the web that one of those “ask” sites had this question: “What are the different fields in Cryptozoology?” This was their “Best Answer – Chosen By Voters” – to wit – “Cryptozoology is a branch of zoology; I have never heard of it being divided into ‘fields.’” Darn. Yikes, they picked the wrong answer by internet consensus? Okay, I couldn’t let that remain unanswered more completely, so here’s my Cryptomundo-refined answer to the question of cryptozoological subfields. +++ Cryptozoology, a sixty-year-old new subdiscipline [...]
Bigfoot Film Takes Top Award
Congratulations to The Long Way Home: A Bigfoot Story, produced, written and directed by James “Bubba” Cromer of Columbia, South Carolina, for winning big honors in the Big Apple. In New York City, on Friday, April 17, 2007, The Long Way Home: A Bigfoot Story won “Best Narrative Feature” for the entire New York International Independent Film & Video Festival 2007. As a reminder, this is a movie about a reporter (played by Cromer) for the Miami Herald who tries to resurrect his failing career by catching a Bigfoot (or won’t it be a Skunk Ape?). In the past, Craig [...]
Bigfooter Buchanan Killed
Heroes pass away in many ways. Sad news to pass along. Known within the Bigfoot community as “SquatchCommando,” Dan Buchanan started showing up big, via online forums in 2007, arguing for a pro-Bigfoot position. SquatchCommando was a Marine Corps veteran who encountered a Bigfoot while on a training mission at Quantico, Virginia. He had appeared recently on a internet radio show (“Let’s Talk Bigfoot”) discussing his experience, and it was apparent his Sasquatch searching and related activities were on the increase. Buchanan was interested in hunting Bigfoot, but he advocated tranquilizing them and taking biological samples. He firmly told people [...]
What’s On Your Lesser-Known Cryptids List?
What are the lesser-known cryptids that you know about, that you are pursuing, and/or that you feel should get more attention? Nowadays, it is easy to come up with a list of popular well-known cryptids. Click on this one of the top 50 here, to see what I mean. But we all know there are vast numbers of cryptids out there that remain hidden, and even hidden from media attention. One task I tackled as the 1990s ended was to bring cryptozoology to a broader audience, introduce the diversity of the searchers, and highlight more than the big three cryptids [...]

Sasquatch Scientific Names
Harry Trumbore’s drawing (above) of the Himalayan Yeti. I wrote this paper over a decade ago and have posted it here before, in conjunction with Craig Woolheater’s “Down Classification Avenue With Sasquatch”. With recent comments about the same subject, I thought it seemed appropriate to revisit my thoughts on this matter, again. Scientific Names for Bigfoot What is the scientific name for “Bigfoot”? This is a question with a few complex answers. “Bigfoot,” of course, is the post-1958 name for those (seemingly) unknown hairy hominoids found in the Pacific Northwest of the USA with large human-like footprints and an upright [...]
