Need a cryptozoo comedy break? Sasquatch: A Love Story (PG) is very funny. This is obviously the Director’s Cut. Brought to you by the “University of British Columbia’s Department of Cryptozoology.” The Canadian jokes and accents are brutal. The complete video collection is here for your viewing enjoyment. It is written and directed by Tim Hall; music by Chris Elliott. Watch it through the credits, as they are worth it. A special message about Canadians is all the way at the end.

DarkLore Cometh!
One of the things that happened as I was finishing Bigfoot! (published in 2003) was that Ray Wallace died on November 26, 2002. I added some details, post-proofs, to my book, but there is much that can be said about what happened, after Wallace died. The entire landscape of Sasquatch studies was changing rapidly. Grover Krantz had died on February 14, 2002. I surprised many people because I was behind exposing what Wallace had done, and took to heart that Bigfoot research would be better off if we began looking closely at Wallace’s legacy. I’ve now written two examinations of [...]
Happy Halloween, Cryptomundians!
I know what a lot of you do. Your day sort of starts off slowly, or ends like Sloop in that other Portland. As he says: So, I’ve been bored at work and stumbled upon lots of weird websites, like Cryptomundo, Forgetomori…Sloop Research indicates 63% of you, that’s right, you, our audience, are regular visitors to this site. That’s encouraging. I’m glad we are saying enough here of interest to keep you coming back. How involved and visible are we? It appears someone coined a name to talk about us, obviously including you, the regulars, this week: Cryptomundians. A blogster [...]
MSNBC Video on Jacobs’ Creature
MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann has fun with the “Jacobs’ Creature” photos. He appears with Bob Kiviat, who produced the 1998 Fox program, “The World’s Greatest Hoaxes: Secrets Finally Revealed.” I discussed the shallowness of that attempt to overthrow the Patterson-Gimlin footage in my Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America. It should also be noted that Kiviat was the producer of one documentary on the Roswell alien autopsy film, and then another one in which he debunked his own documentary. With Kiviat and others lining up to support the Jacobs’ Creature being a “juvenile Sasquatch,” and Jeff Meldrum and I [...]
Identikit Used In Cryptozoology Discoveries
Drawings of the yellow-tailed woolly monkey (Oreonax flavicauda) by artist Stephen Nash were used in Peru to rediscover the primate. The use of identikit illustrations in support of the cryptozoology method is demonstrated often. The objective is to discovery what is already ethnoknown, in terms of local wildlife. Drawings from scratch, under the direction of locals, are a source of primary information. But oftentimes, identikit materials are used in the field for gathering and fine-tuning visual information. Sometimes, if available, a photograph shown to local residents and indigenous peoples is successful in gathering more data on new animals. This is [...]
Hajicek’s MonsterQuest: Full Program Descriptions
Please note, the times are incorrectly given in the program art (above). “MonsterQuest” begins at 10:00 PM Eastern, and is repeated often in the following days, at various times. The History Channel debuts “MonsterQuest” Wednesday October 31st, 2007. The following is their press release regarding a summary of the series, and details on what is to be on each program. I think it has been understated, but it should be noted the series is by Doug Hajicek (pronounced high-check) and his Whitewolf Entertainment, Inc. Haijcek previously wrote, produced, and directed Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, which originally aired on the Discovery [...]
Video Game Backs Guyana Monster Hunt
The Centre for Fortean Zoology has released the following press announcement on their forthcoming “South American Monster Hunt.” The tone and wording (such as the dubious “potentially lethal” to describe the cryptids) is their own. – Loren On the 14th November 2007, five members of the Centre for Fortean Zoology leave the United Kingdom for South America, on their most ambitious expedition yet. They will be searching the remote swamps and jungles of Guyana. They are looking for three elusive, potentially lethal, and hitherto undiscovered animals. a. The giant anaconda b. The didi c. The water tiger As far as [...]
Cow-Eating Tree Video
Still more on the “India’s Cow-Eating Trees”. A fascinating video report from tvdaijiworld India has been broadcast about the cow-eating tree, the eyewitness villagers, and the cow. Here is the footage, hosted by Gloria Rodrigues: ++++++ Update: David Pescovitz at Boing Boing did a good job of capturing a couple frames from the video, here.
The Sasquatch Gang Sets Bigfoot Studies Back 30 Years
A promotional photograph for The Sasquatch Gang may say it all. From what I’ve seen after an extended view of all the trailers I could find, the contemporarily-framed film The Sasquatch Gang may be one of the lamest Bigfoot movies ever made. The Sasquatch Gang sets back serious Bigfoot studies and Sasquatch research by 30 years to the era of bad Bigfoot paperbacks, fake footprints and mullet haircuts. (If that’s the endorsement they were searching for from me, there it is.) Beginning November 30, 2007, in limited release, to be followed by broad national screenings, The Sasquatch Gang hits theaters [...]
