Expedition Faux: The Battle for Media Attention
Two competing “Bigfoot” expeditions that appear to have more to do with media attention, got in the news over the weekend. 1) Over the weekend, the members of Matt Moneymaker’s Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization’s 2008 West Virginia Expedition did report hearing sounds and finding tracks believed to have been made by the elusive, apelike creature. Gene R. Morrill The Associated Press has posted on YouTube their video report on Gene R. Morrill, 57, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire. Morrill had previously pleaded guilty to 20 charges stemming from his efforts to solicit 13-year-old boys over the Internet and blamed it all on a molestation he alleged he had suffered by a Bigfoot. Orange Raccoons, Dover Demons & Green Eyes
It’s been called an “orange,” a “blond,” and a “red” raccoon. Certainly, it is a rare color phase of a common raccoon that was trapped in Greene County, Indiana, late in February and then again in March 2008. It is slowly getting more and more attention. The Daily Picayune of New Orleans, Louisiana, for December 4, 1892, published the following story, perhaps mistitled, “An Amphibious Monster.” A most extraordinary story comes from Boise City, Idaho, which is said to be well authenticated. Two years ago, in 2006, ABC-TV obtained for screening a video of a large object in Lake Champlain that was said to be Champ, originally taken in August 2005. (Please read more here, here, and here.)
