Tales of the Rich, Famous and Cryptozoological

Who is Christopher Foyle? What do the rich and famous do with their money? Why don’t they donate it to the International Cryptozoology Museum via PayPal at lcoleman@maine.rr.com ? Ah, the questions one has while waiting in an airport for an economy class seat…ha ha. Richard Kay, recently writing for The Daily Mail, noted: The mystery of why Christopher Foyle, the nephew of the late and eccentric bookshop owner Christina, decided to quit Britain for sunnier climes is at last explained – he is off to live in tax exile in Monaco. “I’m looking forward to bumping into Sir Philip [...]

“Die, Researchers, Die!”

Perhaps it is a coincidence but on March 22, 2008, a renegade alignment of “thinkers” calling themselves the RRRgroup (although known by some critics as the “KKKgroup”) wrote a blog (together?) entitled “Death(s) will clean the UFO palate.” They begin by stating, “When ufology’s old-guard passes on – Dick Hall, Stan Friedman, Kevin Randall, John Schuessler, and even the 60ish Jerry Clark to name a few – taking hangers-on and sycophants with them (and you know who they are), the UFO palate will be cleansed.” The RRRGroup then mention others who “include Paul Kimball, Nick Redfern, Greg Bishop, and Mac [...]

Orange Raccoons, Dover Demons & Green Eyes

It’s been called an “orange,” a “blond,” and a “red” raccoon. Certainly, it is a rare color phase of a common raccoon that was trapped in Greene County, Indiana, late in February and then again in March 2008. It is slowly getting more and more attention. It’s been featured in the local media in Indiana, and I heard a short story about it on Field and Stream radio last weekend. I think people are catching and releasing the same little tan-color-phase raccoon or its relatives. It got me to wondering, how would have people described this if it hadn’t been [...]

Monster Attack: 1892

The Daily Picayune of New Orleans, Louisiana, for December 4, 1892, published the following story, perhaps mistitled, “An Amphibious Monster.” A most extraordinary story comes from Boise City, Idaho, which is said to be well authenticated. It says that while three travelers were at the upper end of Lake Chelan recently one of them went into the water to bathe. He was seized by the foot by a marine [sic] monster and was being pulled into deep water, when his screams attracted the attention of his companions, who came to his rescue. They pulled him ashore, the monster hanging to [...]

Champ Video

Two years ago, in 2006, ABC-TV obtained for screening a video of a large object in Lake Champlain that was said to be Champ, originally taken in August 2005. (Please read more here, here, and here.) Now the entire video has become available, via YouTube. What do you Cryptomundians see in the video? (Please, for those that don’t yet understand all the otter jokes, do seriously share your sense of what this might be without a major side trek into otter-this-world humor.)

Milestone: 3000

The last posting was the 3000th blog published here at Cryptomundo. We reached 40,000 comments earlier in the week. Thank you all for making this the number one cryptozoology blog worldwide!
