A special to the N.Y. Times from Locust Point, on the shore of Lake Erie, near Toledo, Ohio, says, “The French settlers along the lake shore, in Erie Township, Ottawa County, a few miles east of here, were surprised and amazed on May 12th over the appearance of an unknown fish of mammoth size. Two brothers named Dusseau, both fishermen, were returning from the fishing grounds, when they discovered a phosphorescent mass upon the beach. It was late in the evening, but they succeeded in making their boat fast to the shore, and, upon examination, discovered a lake monster writhing [...]
Mystery Animal Attacks Horse
Troopers in Fredonia [New York] are looking into a report that an unknown wild animal attacked an Arabian horse around 11 pm Thursday night [September 27, 2007]. Investigators say the horse suffered numerous bite and claw marks in the attack in a pasture on Harmon Hill Road in the town of Pomfret. The animal was treated by a local vet and is expected to be ok. Local residents are urged to call the state police at Fredonia with information about this or any future sightings or incidents with large non-domestic animals. by Greg Borowski, Producer, “State Police Investigating Attack On [...]
Tom Slick, Playboy Cryptozoologist
The early Tom Slick lived a life of wealth, from touring the shores of Loch Ness to the company of Howard Hughes in Beverly Hills. The once and future supporter of cryptozoology, Tom Slick, the son of a wealthy Texas oil millionaire, as a youth, shared a life that sounds very familiar to our ears today. For those living in the beginning of the 21st century, the son of another Texas oil millionaire is as near as the White House. Slick lived the trappings of influence and heritage seen in the Bush family. Slick, the Southwestern nonconformist in the East, [...]
Exit The Wolfman: Gable Film Update
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.Friedrich Nietzsche The Gable Film is merely, as seemed obvious in the beginning, an alleged hoax. Many readers have sent in comments and links. I will pluck one, that of Cyptomundo reader SC, as an example that gets directly to the point: Follow this link to read Mr. Steve Cook’s explanation as to the nature of the “unintended hoax.” It seems three frames of the film reveal a [...]
Soviet Hominologists Were Right: Siberian Neandertals
Palaeoarchaeological findings appear to be catching up to hominology, the segment of cryptozoology studying unknown hominoids. For some time, a few of us have studied various reports of what might be surviving Neandertals* in Siberia and China. Whether called Mecheny, Mirygdy, Chuchunaa, Mulen, or Wildmen, some Soviet Snowmen Commission scientists and a few Chinese in the last century theorized we might be dealing with relict populations of Neandertals. Especially intriguing are the Chuchunaa, the often clothed, eastern version of the Mirygdy, seen in Eastern Siberia. (Perhaps further research will also show the fossil Neandertals were a bit larger in their [...]
Skoda’s Not Abominable Yeti 2009
I want one. Better yet, I want to hear from Skoda so I may test drive one to see if I should endorse it. Or appear in an ad. Skoda has announced that it will manufacture the Yeti SUV in the Czech Republic. The fifth model in Skoda’s vehicle line-up will be built at the Kvasiny plant, with production starting in 2009. Will they be available in the USA? I understand they will be found throughout Europe and in the UK, at least. Skoda could really have an extremely entertaining publicity campaign, if they wanted to, and perhaps even sponsor [...]
Nessies’ Death Prematurely Announced
As reputable an authority as the senior officer of the Cunarder Mauretania [sic] reports that on Jan. 30, [1934] while in the Carribean [sic] Sea, the ship passed “a sea monster 65 feet long, 2 feet across the head and 6 feet broad amidships. It was headed S.W.” We are sorry he did not get its course to a finer compass reading. It might have been information of value to the professors. Again on Feb. 2, in the harbor of La Guira, the officers of this same ship reported that another strange looking denizen of the deep appeared on the [...]
Blair Dog Project: Gable Film Fakery?
Our excitement was so intense, as we saw the way to Solomon’s treasure chamber thrown open at last, that I for one began to tremble and shake. Would it prove a hoax after all, I wondered, or was old Da Silvestra right? Were there vast hoards of wealth hidden in that dark place, hoards which would make us the richest men in the whole world?H. Rider Haggard, King Solomon’s Mines. It’s time to bring out the silver bullets. Okay, Cryptomundo will stop ignoring the Gable Film, and take up the hunt. Since September 24, I’ve tried to get some straight [...]
A Closer Look at the P-G Footage?
Finally, a possible solution to the Patterson-Gimlin footage? Let’s move in closer. At least we are trying to keep our sense of humor. Merci Jean luc Drevillon
“Sassafrass” Sasquatch Squashed
I suppose people think this is cute or funny, by now. Sorry, I don’t agree. Indeed, I am tired of all this video trash posted as nonfiction film clips. It’s one thing to have a cryptofictional movie you want to promote, and it’s another thing to keep floating parts of it out there to confuse the general public, including teenagers, who are watching YouTube. Anyway, in the latest intellectual assault like this, Bigfoot Bubba has posted a new video as real, labeling it “Bigfoot Sighting at Sassafrass Ridge Authenticated.” He writes: “Recently discovered Film Footage ditigally restored and colorized as [...]
