Nat Geo’s New Hominology Documentary
Recent speculation about National Geographic Channel making a new Bigfoot documentary in West Virginia is groundless. National Geographic Channel’s production team was there recently to do some spot re-creations of events that took place decades ago in East Asia, not about classic Bigfoot, but regarding Almas. I’ve been in communication with them for some time, as hominologist Adam Davies’ expedition to Mongolia in search of Almas was being planned and then being filmed. Manbeast’s Nicholas Webster Dies
Award-winning TV documentary writer-producer-director Nicholas Webster, died August 12, 2006, in Santa Monica after an extended illness. He was 94. His 1961 documentary “Walk in My Shoes” for the ABC Close Up about blacks in America was Emmy-nominated as the Show of the Year. He also directed documentaries for NBC (“David Brinkley’s Journal”) and CBS (“The Twentieth Century,” with Walter Cronkite.) In terms of cryptozoology, Webster is best remembered for his documentary Manbeast: Myth or Monster. It is so hot lately in the northern hemisphere, perhaps thoughts should turn to snow, snowmen, Abominable Snowmen, and Yetis. When I first saw the notice of Abominable Snowmen: Legend Come to Life coming back into print, I had emotions that ranged from joy and sadness, to caution and upset. Bates Opens Cryptozoology Exhibition
The International Cryptozoology Museum (ICM) is sharing its contents through the end of 2006. Over 100 of some of the most significant large and small items from the ICM’s collection are included in my specific room at the new Bates College exhibition, “Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale.” Then, in October, the objects from that gathering and the other artists’ collections move to Kansas City. Slick’s Snowman Containment Site
One of the sidetrips that Craig Woolheater, his wife Marcy, Miles Lewis, Dennis Stacy, and I took on Sunday was a survey of various Tom Slick sites around San Antonio, as pointed out and discussed, in depth, by the encyclopedic Stacy. Yes, a motley crew, indeed, in search of Slickian history did trek about San Antonio over the weekend. The locations we visited included Slick’s lift-slab house, and organizations he founded, such as the Southwest Research Instiitue, the Mind Science Foundation, and the Southwest Foundatin for Biomedical Research.
