Over at “Forces of Good,” Stefan Blitz has posted his ten most favorite video clips of “Bigfoot Appearances.” I note that only two appearances of the gathering, #1 and #10, can be said to be nonfiction. Most are popular culture icons, snippets from movies, ads, and reality programs that are entirely fictional. Nevertheless, it is a good little collection, and Blitz is to be congratulated for posting these YouTube-like clips all in one place. Here is his list: TOP TEN BIGFOOT APPEARANCES Ah, the famed Sasquatch. Of all of my favorite crypto-creatures, you are by far my favorite. Luckily, the [...]

Remember the earlier posts about Olaf the Giant? Mark A. Hall sends in a clearer copy of a photograph of Olaf with an article that’s easy to read. Click on image for full size version
Laughing At Ghosts In Maine Woods
John Richardson followed up his earlier article on the eastern panther survey with a short column on March 24, 2007, entitled “Seeing ‘ghosts’ in the Maine woods.” Today’s commentary has the classic framework of beginning and ending paragraphs, which in typical journalistic style, are used to bring balance into the tone of the article: For an animal that’s supposed to be extinct in the eastern United States, mountain lions have sure been getting around the Maine woods….So if you think you’ve seen a mountain lion, you aren’t crazy. You may not even be wrong. And you certainly are not alone.John [...]
What’s Your Bigfoot IQ?
Bigfoot! The True Story of Apes in America Here’s a new quiz that goes to the depths of your knowledge on Sasquatch and Bigfoot research. I’m joking, of course, for it is only ten questions long, but it is a good survey of some high points of your awareness of the field. It is more difficult than the previous quiz: Quiz – All About Hairy The same comment guidelines apply, as with the CZ IQ quiz. Please don’t ruin the intrigue and fun for people coming after you, even months from now. So, simple rules: You post any answers, proper [...]
Mohawk Mystery Animal Attack
Charles “Chaz” Kader , who is the Assistant Director of Public Information at New York’s St Regis Mohawk Tribe, has forwarded some developing news: Loren – Hello from the Mohawk Nation. If you recall, I sent you a heads-up on the Blackfeet Bigfoot evidence in Browning, Montana, last year. I am with the St Regis Mohawk Tribe now. This is not an official press release. I am passing this news item [seen above] along to you for review, as an item of interest as a courtesy. Published on 3/22/2007 in the local newspaper, Indian Time, is a front page story [...]
What’s Your CZ IQ?
Can you identify this mystery fish found on an old postcard? (Click on this image shared by Phyllis Mancz to see full size version.) I know, I know. The above photo is still a mystery, but how about some easier questions? What’s your Cryptozoology IQ? Okay, a couple questions are about aliens, but, overall, this is a good quick automated quiz to see how you rate. Take the short quiz on the FunTrivia.com site here. How did you do? (BTW, I will delete your comment if you give away any answers. That is just no fun for anyone else coming [...]
Meldrum Tapdances
In the current issue of TAPS Paramagazine on newsstands now and via mail (you can click on the ad to the right), you will find a new “Q and A” session with Dr. Jeff Meldrum about Bigfoot. Yes, I have the cover article on Sea Serpents plus a list-column on New England Lake Monsters, but what I wanted to really mention was the Meldrum article. I only learned about it after my issue came recently. Meldrum, of course, doesn’t “tapdance” in the traditional negative meaning, i.e. that he is avoiding topics. He dances about in fine form, as in cutting-a-rug [...]
The Outer Edge
Just to answer a question about my first two books, The Unidentified and Creatures of the Outer Edge, with Jerome Clark, yes, they have been republished. And yes, they reflect our youthful theories, long thrown overboard. But the reports, sightings, and some connections still ring true, decades later. First appearing in 1975 and 1978, these two paperbacks were published in 2006, as a special double edition with a new introduction. The Unidentified and Creatures of the Outer Edge: The Early Works of Jerome Clark and Loren Coleman is a combined quality paperbound book from Anomalist Books. The Unidentified has intriguing, [...]
Cryptomundo’s Ultimate CZ FAQs
(Click on image to see full size version, enhanced by shockbeton) Fans, friends, and readers of Cryptomundo, I have an idea that it might be good to have a permanent “Cryptomundo’s Frequently Asked Questions” location attached to the Cryptomundo site. Perhaps it would be via a long blog of answers, or series of blogs. Maybe it would be a hyperlinked sidebar dedicated location. I see this as a gift in return to all those who have done so much to keep my blogging alive here. Let me see if this will work. The details will be ironed out. But the [...]
