Land of CZ Logos
Cryptozoology has inspired some dynamic, colorful and intriguing logos for organizations, publications, and expeditions. Concurrently today, I will share and launch the new Duncan Hopkins-designed logo for the International Cryptozoology Museum. But before that event, I wanted to give a tip of my fedora to the legacy of logos that exist in the field of cryptozoology and the species or cryptids tied to those symbols. At the top of the page is the okapi used as the International Society of Cryptozoology’s official logo on their journal Cryptozoology, as well as the ISC Newsletter. The ISC was founded in 1982, and [...]
CFZ Guyana Trek Begins
On Wednesday evening, November 14, 2007, a five-person party flies from London’s Heathrow Airport in search of more complete information on at least three South American cryptids (e.g. Giant Anaconda, Didi/Mapinguary, Water Tiger). The five individuals from the UK-based Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] are on the track of cryptid data and en route to Guyana. For more information, see their previous release (which is being recycled this week), here. CFZ misread early notices here about this being called a “publicity stunt” for the videogame company Capcom’s launch of their new video game Monster Hunter 3. In the USA, the [...]
Alien Big Cat Footage
In this clip from “Animal X,” you can see a sampling of various “Alien Big Cats” videotapes, which exist of the usually black unknown felines seen in the “mysterious British countryside, a region rich in history and deep routed legends.” The following is allegedly footage of the mysterious “Beast of Banff,” showing an Alien Big Cat from Banffshire, Scotland. Finally, the comic cultural impact of these sightings is demonstrated in the “Beast of Bodmin.”

Animal control personnel have set up cameras in the area where the African Lion is reported to be roaming in West Virginia. They are using both game cameras as well as Motion-sensitive video cameras owned by the state Department of Environmental Protection and used to catch litterbugs. Hajicek’s MonsterQuest: Full Program Descriptions
Please note, the times are incorrectly given in the program art (above). “MonsterQuest” begins at 10:00 PM Eastern, and is repeated often in the following days, at various times. The History Channel debuts “MonsterQuest” Wednesday October 31st, 2007. The following is their press release regarding a summary of the series, and details on what is to be on each program. I think it has been understated, but it should be noted the series is by Doug Hajicek (pronounced high-check) and his Whitewolf Entertainment, Inc. Haijcek previously wrote, produced, and directed Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, which originally aired on the Discovery [...]
Maneless Maneaters May Leave USA
During the fall, coming in and out of the news, has been the demand from Kenya that Chicago’s Field Museum return the remains of two lions that reportedly killed about 135 Indian railworkers (but probably actually only about 25) in the 1890s, before being shot by a famed British railway engineer. These lions are the infamous maneaters of Tsavo. Railway engineer Lieutenant-Colonel John Henry Patterson – whose adventures formed the basis of the Oscar-winning 1996 movie The Ghost and the Darkness, starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer, shot the strange cats in December 1898. Twenty-six years later Patterson sold the [...]
