Last year, I reported here of the Bigfoot-type reports called “Cohomo.” Does a child’s old 1960s’ notebooks have clues that relate to those sightings of the 1970s? Or was there just a cultural sense in the air that imaginations and reality merged in the Midwest of a few decades ago? Michael Isenberg, a musician living in Hollywood, California, has made claims in emails to Cryptomundo that he created, in 1965, a story that may have influenced the reports of “Cohomo,” also called the “Cole Hollow Monster,” reported in 1972, in Pekin, Illinois. Here’s what Isenberg writes: It began in the [...]
Russia’s “Big White Man”
Soldiers named the visitor “Big White Man.” Hundreds of civilians, including policemen, also saw the “Big White Man.”
Missouri River Monster Captured
A report from May for your consideration… A Terrible Fish Story A strange monster was captured recently [during May] in the [Missouri] river opposite Canton, by some fishermen, in their seine, while dragging for fish. We know not what to call it, or what it looks like, or how to describe it, for it is unlike any creature of earth, air or water, that we have ever seen. It is not a fish, nor is it an alligator, or crocodile, or a turtle, but resembles the pictures we have often seen in books of the mythical dragon. It is a [...]
California “Sea-Ape”?
A California Mermaid – The account of the voyage of Hernando Grijalva to the Gulf coast of Lower California, (1823,) describes a mermaid which Grijalva professed to have seen. The object[,] when seen near by, resembled nothing more than a monkey. It leaped out of the water and jumped back again, with its hands moving very quickly, and then looked us in the face; floating in the water as in an attude [sic] of sitting, until a bird disturbed it, when it dived down again and came up on a short distance from us; we saw it for more than [...]
Yuriy Morozov Dies
Yuriy N. Morozov, 55, a well known Russian Fortean (anomalist) and leading authority on paleovisitology (the study of hypothetical ancient visitors to the Earth) died on April 29, 2007, in Moscow, Russia. Morozov’s death occurred after a short illness, according to his friend Vladimir Rubtsov, director of the Research Institute on Anomalous Phenomena (RIAP). [Rubtsov is himself famed for his studies of Tunguska (1972-2001) and his intriguing winged weirdies article in FSR1979, “A Flying ‘Man’ in Black in Russia.”] Yuriy Morozov was an advocate for the linking of all studies of unexplained phenomena, anomalistics, under one tent. He addressed the [...]

Ah, Bigfoot & ME
Photograph by Joseph Citro. The abbreviation for the State of Maine is “ME.” As fate would have it, Lewiston Sun Journal reporter Kathryn Skelton has a feature article about Maine and Bigfoot today, entitled creatively, “Bigfoot & ME.” It happens to have a large photo of me at the top of one section of the story. Here’s an excerpt of some of what Skelton writes about in this Saturday’s news article. It contains various things that have only a little to do with the critical examination of Bigfoot sightings in Maine. Some words are not even worth repeating, so here’s [...]
