Lima Lion Lurking

The following article appeared on local Ohio TV News Net 5, on June 6, 2008: Big Cat Sightings Reported Near Ohio City Sightings of a big cat in northwest Ohio have some families on edge. Authorities south of Lima haven’t confirmed any of the reports that began to circulate a few weeks ago. Some people said they think it was a panther. Ohio Department of Natural Resources trapper Craig Shafer said he’s pretty sure there’s a large cat out there based on the footprints he’s seen. Gary Guagenti said he spotted the big cat trotting across a field near his [...]

Tsuchinoko: 100 Million Yen Reward

Times have been rather hectic lately with the recent news of the Bigfoot “massacre” theory, the Bigfoot trail camera photo prize, and the Pepie challenge money. Therefore, I did want to acknowledge an item published over at the Pink Tentacle a few days ago. The essay was entitled “Seven Mysterious Creatures of Japan”. It is worth your reading, especially if you are not familiar with the Hibagon (unknown anthropoid), Kusshii (lake monster), Isshii (lake monster), Giant Snake of Mt. Tsurugi, Takitaro (giant fish), Kappa (merbeing, shown above), and Tsuchinoko. Specifically, I wished to point to the Tsuchinoko paragraphs, as a [...]

Upcoming repeats of the program will occur on History (nee, the History Channel), to wit: “Vampire Beast” – Sunday June 15 05:00 PM Eastern “Vampire Beast” – Wednesday June 18 08:00 [...]

Meanwhile, $50,000 For Pepie

Bushnell may be putting out there a million dollars for a Bigfoot trail camera photograph, but there are lesser goals available. In Minnesota, the Lake City Tourism Bureau has offered a $50,000 reward for hooking, netting or capturing on a camera a large, serpentlike creature living in the Mississippi River’s Lake Pepin below Maiden Rock. Lake Pepin is a naturally occurring lake, and the widest naturally occurring part of the Mississippi River. It is a widening of the river on the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. It is 21 miles long, with a surface area of about 40 square miles [...]

Appalachian Winged Weirdies, 2007-2008

Pennsylvania researcher Stan Gordon has passed along this report to me for sharing at Cryptomundo: +++ More Huge Flying Creature Sightings In Pennsylvania by Stan Gordon, 6/4/2008 This past February, I wrote about a man who reported a very close observation of a giant bird in neighboring West Virginia in late September or early October, 2007. The man was driving on a rural two lane roadway outside of the town of Clendenin, at about 8 A.M. when he had to step hard on his brakes, to avoid hitting a giant flying creature in the middle of the road. The giant [...]

Is New Yeti Evidence “Potentially Explosive”?

An article entitled “Yeti ‘photo-fit’ shows ‘potentially explosive’ evidence of elusive mountain beast” by Richard Holt, in London’s The Telegraph for 2 June 2008, has noted, with some excitement, that wildlife painter Polyanna Pickering has been shown what is believed to be “a 100-year-old Yeti scalp at a remote monastery in the Himalayas.” Based upon Pickering’s viewing of the “scalp,” she has sketched (see example above) a drawing, which is being called “a ‘photo-fit’ of the Yeti based on ‘potentially explosive’ new evidence of the elusive creature’s existence.” Pickering was collecting material for her planned new exhibition, while she was [...]
