Hobbit Wrists and Jurassic Feathers

A comparison of wrist bones like those found in the “hobbit” human (left) and those of a modern human suggest that the diminutive hominin is a unique species, scientists say. Image © Science It is one of those busy news days, especially in terms of fossil updates. The two big fossil discovery news items are primate and aves related, and of interest to Cryptomundo. One is the new Science report that a study of the wrist bones of Homo floresiensis confirms it is a new species, and not an abnormal human. The other finding is that there were feathers on [...]

Loren Coleman Update

It did seem like time to brush the rust off that little corner of Cryptomundo. FYI. My biographical information at Cryptomundo has been updated, here. The bio details had not been changed since I joined Cryptomundo a few years ago. I’m beginning to feel a gallery of all the comic book images that artists have created should be gathered in one collection and linked to that bio site. Perhaps you feel my use of “terrorizing” is too sensational in my headline? Well, read what headlines are being used in Sydney this morning: “Fears rural lions could snatch kids.” The cats – supposedly two – appear to look like black leopards (known species shown above). Here are three Australian articles: A researcher suspects two big cats might have feasted together on a horse foal [...]

Here is the Chinese footage from an Italian news station, apparently.
