According to the Associated Press, Bill Clinton speaking in Macon, Georgia, on Monday, January 21, 2008, played the cryptozoology card! The AP is reporting: “Bill Clinton doesn’t want to become the White House’s Sasquatch.” The news service noted the former president says it would be a mistake for him to have a specific job if he were to return to Washington D.C. with a new Clinton administration. In remarks to reporters, Clinton said: I’d be like the Abominable Snowman. I’d be Bigfooting everybody even if I tried not to. There’s almost no way you can avoid that. Whatever I do [...]
What Is The Future Image of Bigfoot?
What is in store for the next twenty years of Bigfoot? What visual imagery does the next generation have in mind for Bigfoot? What can we learn from the past recent history of the appearances of Sasquatch about the future look of the hairy hominoids? Twenty years ago, one movie changed the image of Bigfoot. During the previous twenty years, from 1967 through 1987, the psychological and visual Bigfoot was the one seen in the Patterson-Gimlin footage, that of a zaftig (indeed, quite zaftik) female Bigfoot walking along a sandbar in the forest. From 1987 through today, while the P-G [...]
Women in Cryptozoology: Debbie Martyr
How does a former editor of a south London newspaper find herself in the deep rainforest of Indonesia, studying one of the most discussed primate cryptids in the world? She decides one day that she is going to go there and study them, that’s how. Debbie Martyr. Cryptozoologists, hominologists, and Bigfoot researchers have been receiving important data through correspondence from Debbie Martyr in Sumatra for years. Martyr’s decision to actually go to live in the midst of the rainforest follows the tradition of women placing themselves in the field to study great apes, popularized by Jane Goodall (chimpanzees), Dian Fossey [...]
Pucabob Reviews Monster of the Woods
Monster in the Woods stars Jana Regan and Seth Holbrook as the two cryptozoologists. They do an excellent job, as do several members of the cast. My surprise cameo nearly begins the film, I discovered. Now after seeing the entire production, I highly recommend this new indie motion picture as being good clean fun. Maine anomalist Jim Boyd (a/k/a “Pucabob”) has this instant review to share online about the opening of Monster of the Woods, directed by Andy Davis and Olin Smith, and executive produced by John Lane: I attended the premier of “Monster in the Woods,” a Maine-made low-budget [...]
Bigfoot at the Merrill
Saturday, January 12, 2008, the world premiere showing of the new indie film, Monster in the Woods will occur at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine. Built in 1912 to replace two former halls both destroyed by fire, the (Portland, Maine) City Hall Auditorium was a classic example of colonial style, boasting porticos and columns, a deep court and large wings. The hall was completely renovated beginning in January 1996, and today, the re-named Merrill Auditorium is a 1900 seat performing arts facility, located in the remarkable setting of downtown Portland, on the beautiful coast of Maine. The plot of Monster [...]
Wanted: Costumed Sasquatch Staff
If you are thinking of moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, or already live there, and want to be involved with cultural cryptozoology, this may be your dream job: If you’re about six feet tall and can act like a friendly Sasquatch, you could qualify to be an Olympic mascot. In the next two weeks, there will be postings for volunteer positions on the Vancouver 2010 website. [...]
Texas Bigfoot Spotlighted
The blog the Paranormal Insider has a nice overview of The Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy, founded by Craig Woolheater. It is always good to see the great work done by Craig highlighted, as his almost annual conferences are quite enjoyable to attend. Texas does have some of the most attractive, fun-loving people on Earth. Large groups of like-minded folks gather in Jefferson, Texas, often to exchange insightful thoughts on the region’s Bigfoot.

World Premiere: Monster in the Woods
Does Bigfoot roam Maine? Or merely groups of comedians? Here are some funny videos from a new movie. The world premiere showing of the completed, new Maine-based film, Monster in the Woods will occur at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine, on January 12, 2008. Skookum’s Dr. Swindler Dies Suddenly
Sadly word has just reached Cryptomundo of the death a month ago of a figure important to the investigation of the Skookum Cast. University of Washington professor emeritus of anthropology, World War II veteran, consummate teacher, and beloved father, husband and friend of cryptozoology, Daris R. Swindler, 82, died suddenly in Spokane, Washington, on December 6, 2007, of cancer. Though a longtime skeptic of Sasquatch, Swindler was one of the few experts willing to examine physical evidence cited in support of the unknown hominoids’ existence. Swindler’s opinion regarding Bigfoot changed after the September 22, 2000, discovery of the so-called Skookum [...]
