If you are thinking of moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, or already live there, and want to be involved with cultural cryptozoology, this may be your dream job:
If you’re about six feet tall and can act like a friendly Sasquatch, you could qualify to be an Olympic mascot. Vancouver 2010 is looking to hire full-time staff to wear the Sumi, Miga or Quatchi outfits.
Maureen Douglas tells the Province newspaper about 30 volunteer actors are also needed over the next two years. In the next two weeks, there will be postings for volunteer positions on the Vancouver 2010 website. by Roberta Graham, “About 30 volunteers needed to dress as 2010 Games mascots,”, Vancouver Province/News 1130. January 8, 2008.
Are they going to be “volunteers” (unpaid) or will they be “hired full-time” (thus apparently paid)? Anyone know? If anyone applies and gets the job, please send a photograph of yourself in costume to Cryptomundo.
BTW, my sincere thanks to Steve Stredulinsky for his donation to the International Cryptozoology Museum of one of the now apparently very rare Quatchi mascot dolls (shown above) during the holiday season. Also, sincere appreciation goes out to the anonymous donator angel who was able to send much needed assistance (via PayPal at lcoleman@maine.rr.com ). You know who you are, and your donation was a lifesaver. Survival is important, and routinely a question. These are tough times. Thank you.
