Mark Frauenfelder recently posted at Boing Boing about the wonderful past era of beautiful art to be found on old covers of Fate. Mark also mentioned a recent blog by David Pescovitz about the New York Times article “Mr. and Mrs. Natural,” and the author of that article contacted Mark to say two of Fate covers done in the last decade have been illustrated by the underground comics genius R. Crumb. Actually, it was three, two of which had Bigfoot themes and one was of an alien shown near a bed. One of those covers – specifically because of Crumb’s [...]
Biscardi Redux
Tom Biscardi, perhaps pondering how many $500 subscribers exist in the Willamette Valley, the most densely populated and agriculturally productive region of the state of Oregon. Reporter Ian Demsky of the Willamette Week was given the assignment to “dig up the dirt” on Tom Biscardi, due to a forthcoming “event” in their community. He interviewed people across the United States about Biscardi, and of course, read some of the blogs here. Demsky talked to me for several hours over a few days about the guy. The result? Here’s what Demsky says in his email today, as he shares his final [...]

Bigfooters: Media Targets
You’re a hard-working Bigfoot investigator and get a call from a "newspaper" in Florida, something with a forgettable and simple name. They want to do a story about you and a possible discovery you were looking into, regarding a unique piece of evidence. You are open, trusting, and sharing. But today, you receive a copy of the issue of the publication, and are surprised, nay shocked, to find out the article is in…the Sun, one of the sister tabloids of the National Enquirer of America Media, Inc. That’s what happened to Bart Nunnelly, who first shared with Cryptomundo his story [...]
Patterson Dies + 35: Anniversaries of 2007
This is the week, 35 years ago that Roger Patterson, rodeo rider, songwriter, and Bigfoot hunter, died. Thirty-five years! How time flies. During the next twelve months you will find your calendar filled with anniversaries that hit close to home, if you are interested in cryptids and other "strange things" that happen all the time. This year is the 400th anniversary of the founding of Virginia’s Jamestown colony and is (according to various media) the biggest milestone of the year in the United States of America. Intriguingly, 2007 will see the publication of many books about Virginia, including Weird Virginia. [...]
Does Wiki, Google, or Yahoo Link You To Cryptozoology?
What can job seekers find out about you by looking at your FaceBook, YouTube, and Wikipedia? Doing a search for you and your activities via Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, Quintura, or yes, by visiting Ask Jeeves would reveal what? Have you been mentioned in Cryptomundo, at The Anomalist, or on Boing Boing? Well, maybe Boing Boing would just be cool, right? Anyway, that’s been a concern, hasn’t it? It has been discussed in job career internet sites for awhile. College placement services have been feeding into the fears. Recent college graduates who only two years ago had posted their beer [...]
The New Crop of Bigfooters: What’s Up?
We all were young once. What kind of member of the next generation of Bigfooters are you? What’s up with the present crop of Sasquatch seekers? Let me shout out a challenge to the Bigfoot hunters and researchers here who are 40 years old and under. I usually don’t say things so strongly about this subject, but in this case, allow me to make some observations through the gray hairs flickering in front of my eyes on this windy and cold day. Is there a Bigfooters Age War developing? As some of you know, I run a few group lists [...]
