(Click on image to see full size version, enhanced by shockbeton) Fans, friends, and readers of Cryptomundo, I have an idea that it might be good to have a permanent “Cryptomundo’s Frequently Asked Questions” location attached to the Cryptomundo site. Perhaps it would be via a long blog of answers, or series of blogs. Maybe it would be a hyperlinked sidebar dedicated location. I see this as a gift in return to all those who have done so much to keep my blogging alive here. Let me see if this will work. The details will be ironed out. But the [...]
Springbrook Yowie Is Back!
There’s news from the Gold Coast Bulletin in Queensland, for March 2007, of breaking Yowie activity. Paul Cropper sends along the full story, available if you click on the above image. For more on the past Springbrook Yowie sightings and footprint finds, please see The Yowie: In Search of Australia’s Bigfoot by Tony Healy and Paul Cropper. It is destined to become an instant cryptozoological classic.Dean Harrison, Austalian Yowie Research
Marysville Track
Reports of Bigfoot in California have been discussed in the media for over a week, as Craig has noted here. Above is a photograph taken of the picture of one of the Marysville tracks. What do you think of it?
Can Bigfoot Hoaxers Be Messy?
Bigfooter Roger Knights wanted to post his counter-argument to my recent posts on the Wallace tracks being in the mix here, and I have allowed him to do so. Below, you will find his essay, as he sent it in, unedited. Roger asked to post this with his third revised title, “What Trickster Would Tramp a Terrible Trackway?” That’s too long for a blog listing, but that’s what he is calling it. It serves as a little break from the anti-Wallace-fakes-in-the-record camp. Here’s Roger with his point of view. John Green pointed out that a hoaxer needs to make an [...]
Krantz on Skookum Cast
There’s a new argument occurring over at the James Randi skeptics forum, between Bigfoot promoters and skeptics, this last week in February 2007. It’s all about the unlikely subject of what was said by anthropologist Grover Krantz regarding the reality of the Skookum Cast. Here’s the result of some research and what may be the “final” confusing answer on the matter. In 2004, Scott Herriott engaged in a spirited exchange with John Green on the Bigfoot Yahoo list about the subject. Herriott displayed some skepticism pertaining to Green’s claim that Krantz had endorsed the Skookum Cast. After all, Herriott remarked, [...]
Bigfoot’s Monolithic Margins
Part of the exercise here is to understand that in pursuit of good evidence leading to the verification of the reality, scientifically, of Bigfoot, we must build the best collection of Bigfoot footprints under the sun and throw out fake footprints on the way there. There is a point in our quest where it must be realized that nothing is beyond reproach and nothing is above reexamination, by us, by Bigfoot skeptics, by debunkers, by true believers, and by agnostics. Even though I readily admit my pro-Bigfoot bias, I am not out to sell you on one side or the [...]
If Chimps Kill With Sticks, Do Bigfoot?
News out of Africa about chimpanzees fashioning and using tools has a direct impact on a recent debate about Bigfoot. As you will recall, M. K. Davis made public statements about a stick being held by the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot, and connected it to Bigfoot being human, due to that stick. Besides the fact few could see the stick that Davis saw, the counterpoint is that great apes do use sticks, of course, and use of such a tool is no measure of “humanity.” I am not going to rehash the entire unfolding of the new finding readily available via this [...]
More Bigfoot “Wallace Line” Images
Reexaming archival photographs of Bigfoot track photos, casts, and “souvenirs” does expose hints of how deeply the “cultural icons” of Ray Wallace’s damaging handiwork have penetrated. My appreciation is given to Cryptomundo reader Dale Drinnon who has sent in the above scan of an old postcard that was sold at Happy Camp, California, apparently in the 1960s or early 1970s. Drinnon writes: “It looks to me like the one track cast [on the left in the photograph] has [evidence of] that crack in the heel.” There was nothing on the other side of the postcard. Dale Wallace displays Ray Wallace’s [...]
S. F. Chronicle: $100,000 Bigfoot Scam? John Green’s Challenge
John Green (right) interviews Albert Ostman about Ostman’s 1924 Sasquatch abduction incident in British Columbia. Green, who turns 80 in 2007, has been involved in many foundation cases, needless to say. Recent discussions here have been about the Blue Creek Mountain – Onion Mountain tracks found in 1967, by John Green and others. Green feels very passionate about keeping these tracks within the realm of what are seen as genuine prints, despite mounting evidence that they were pranked or hoaxed by Ray Wallace and/or his associates. Everyone has an equal say about this affair. John Green, who is greatly respected [...]
How Would You Hunt Bigfoot?
Okay, I’ll take up the call for this one. People seem to wish to talk about how they would go about hunting for Bigfoot or Sasquatch. A free exchange of ideas and suggestions may assist people who want to pick up new approaches or enhance their own knowledge of searching for a real Bigfoot. I’ll undertake this exercise for the benefit of people who wish to find one place to revisit to watch an exchange grown, evolve, and take different tracks. So here goes… Limiting this to real, biological examples of an unknown primate in North America, how would you [...]
