There’s news from the Gold Coast Bulletin in Queensland, for March 2007, of breaking Yowie activity. Paul Cropper sends along the full story, available if you click on the above image. For more on the past Springbrook Yowie sightings and footprint finds, please see The Yowie: In Search of Australia’s Bigfoot by Tony Healy and Paul Cropper. It is destined to become an instant cryptozoological classic.Dean Harrison, Austalian Yowie Research

Rethinking Sahelanthropus
As recreations of Sahelanthropus tchadensis demonstrate, this fossil primate may be an ancestor of chimpanzees, gorillas, early humans, and/or even the cryptid agogwe of Africa. Discovered by Michael Brunet, et.al in Chad, central Africa, about 2,500 km from the East Rift Valley. Reported in the August 15th, 2002 issue of Nature, it is described as being from 6 to 7 million years old.Bone Clones catalogue A superbly crafted replica has been produced by the fine folks at Bone Clones. It is actually a work of art, which can be nicely displayed with an inexpensive customized stand, and well worth being [...]
Marysville Track
Reports of Bigfoot in California have been discussed in the media for over a week, as Craig has noted here. Above is a photograph taken of the picture of one of the Marysville tracks. What do you think of it?
Tragedy in Bluffton
Sometimes the news does touch deeply, merging worlds of sorrow, cryptozoology, and baseball. My thoughts go out to the parents, the players, and the many people in Bluffton – a wonderful little village that hosted me, cryptozoologically, and was kind to me 30 years ago this spring. My heart truly is with Bluffton. Times are hard. To the baseball families, the survivors, and the hurt bodies and souls from that town in Ohio, how can we really understand what they are going through? I empathize with how close baseball families can get. I’ve always worked with my sons and coaches, [...]

Pussy or Puma?
Images of an Australian mystery puma or a domestic housecat? The following photographs were found to have been taken three years ago, and forgotten about, as far as being developed, until recently. They are “Copyright (c) R. McPherson 2007,” used with permission. The person taking them claims: “The photos show a large black cat as [big as?] a puma! about 35kg +, 70cm high, tail alone would be 70cm long and about 70mm diameter, body with out tail would be about 90/100cm long ; has the right colored eyes etc; They were taken in outback of Casterton forest towards Penola [...]
1901 Cryptozoology
Cryptozoology historian Brian Gaugler writes: I recently found an old article in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archives from 1901 that I thought you might find interesting. Assuming that it’s not a newspaper hoax, it discusses the shooting of a living dinosaur in Florida and the work of a secret group of scientists to gather cryptozoological evidence. Brian Gaugler Check out Brian’s blog, here. Following is part of the article he has reproduced there.
Coelacanth: Rock Star
Some might say the elusive coelacanth, in spite of its primordial ugliness, has attained rock star status in the popular imagination. Chris Justice, Assistant Professor of English and Mass Communication at The Community College of Baltimore County, February 26, 2007 Of course, you and I didn’t need the good professor to tell us the coelacanth is an amazing animal, a great story, and, yes, a rock star. But it is always wonderful to know that so many people agree with us that this is one very remarkable species. Jokes and introductions aside, one of the more fascinating finned creatures to [...]
Can Bigfoot Hoaxers Be Messy?
Bigfooter Roger Knights wanted to post his counter-argument to my recent posts on the Wallace tracks being in the mix here, and I have allowed him to do so. Below, you will find his essay, as he sent it in, unedited. Roger asked to post this with his third revised title, “What Trickster Would Tramp a Terrible Trackway?” That’s too long for a blog listing, but that’s what he is calling it. It serves as a little break from the anti-Wallace-fakes-in-the-record camp. Here’s Roger with his point of view. John Green pointed out that a hoaxer needs to make an [...]
