Other upcoming conferences include: The 2008 Flatwoods Monster Anniversary and Flying Saucer Extravaganza, on September 12-13, 2008, will take place at the Alban Art & Conference Center, St. Albans, West Virginia. Speakers include Frank Feschino Jr. and Jeff Wamsley, Stanton T. Friedman, Alfred Lehmberg, John C. Barker, and John Ventri. The Second Annual Honobia Bigfoot Conference in Oklahoma on October 4-5, 2008. Sasquatch Assault
Word of another new Bigfoot movie has arrived: Sasquatch Assault. I’m not really interested in writing about it until I see more about the specifics of the cryptid. Anyway, there’s a perfectly good Michael Gingold item that’s already been written about what is known about it at Fangoria. Oh, I’ll share this; the talking point in-house tagline for the flick is “Assault on Precinct 13 with a Sasquatch.” It appears to fit into the new subgenre of blood-and-gore cryptofiction cinema.

Tarzan Creator’s Grandson Dies
Tarzan of the Apes, the first book cover, 1914. In Mark Evanier’s blog, News From Me, he writes that Danton Burroughs, the grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs and “a major force in keeping that man’s work alive,” died Wednesday evening, April 30, 2008, at his home in Tarzana, California. The suburb, of course, was named for his grandfather’s legendary creation. Danton Burroughs was 64.
