Hey, I want one of those as a gift for the holidays, don’t you? David Pescovitz mentions a great new piece of cryptozoology outerwear to add to anyone’s wish list. David writes at Boing Boing: This amazing track jacket embroidered with Tim Biskup’s Yeti illustration is part of his Gama-Go collection for Fall. It’s $78 and I am so deeply saddened that it doesn’t come in XXL to fit my Sasquatch frame. Thank goodness the Gama-Go collection has a soft but durable, fieldworthy but comfortably-sized X-L with good lines to fit me! (My apologies to anyone that didn’t see that [...]
Arcturus Cryptozoology Books
Looking for a rare Keel title? A paperback from the 1970s demonstrating that era’s view of Bigfoot? An oldie but a goodie? Trying to pick up a scarce cryptozoology book? Bob Girard has been selling used books for years, and now does it from Port St. Lucie, Florida. If you want to keep the good books in this world, you have to support those booksellers that aren’t afraid to sell them. Therefore, we have to support, for example, Arcturus Books. Here’s a sample below of items you can email him about, and see if he still has it in stock. [...]
Exclusive: Johor Bigfoot Cast Copy
Joshua Gates – shown above on his investigative trek in Malaysia with Seekers Sis and Illa – reveals to Cryptomundo the startling news that an excellent first generation copy of the Johor Bigfoot cast sits safely in California. Illa shows off the cast last February, as photographed from a different angle, above, as opposed to the often seen image, below. Joshua Gates, above, was involved with obtaining the original Johor cast, in the jungle. But, as it turns out, a copy was made; see the photo directly above, which was previsiously published as showing the original. Gates is shown below [...]
Wired Magazine
Last reminder: The Bates College Museum of Art’s exhibition "Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale" ends with a closing reception (4-6 pm) at the Lewiston, Maine site, on Saturday, October 7, 2006. This is a page from the October 2006 issue of Wired Magazine, which you can enlarge by clicking on the image.
Bigfoot in TV Guide
Scores of people in the media find their way to me, oftentimes to ask where they can obtain this or that image. In the case of the recent series of Bigfoot movies on the Sci-Fi Channel, TV Guide approached me asking if I could help them with the rights to a frame from the Patterson-Gimlin film. Needless to say, I sent them to Mrs. Patterson and René Dahinden’s heirs to purchase and obtain permission. For people that missed it, here’s what TV Guide produced: Please click on the image for a full size version. Interestingly, the editorial board room discussions [...]
Boing Boing Podcast
My interview with Boing Boing has been posted by David Pescovitz. Travel over to Boing Boing by clicking here to find the links to the podcast and other links. Here’s what David has to say… Friday, October 6, 2006 Get Illuminated! podcast with Loren Coleman On this week’s edition of Get Illuminated! we chatted with Loren Coleman. As BB readers know, Loren is the world’s leading cryptozoologist who has spent the last four decades studying "hidden animals," from Bigfoot and Yeti to Nessie and Chupacabras, and the culture surrounding them. He blogs about his curious findings at Cryptomundo and is [...]
Cartergate: Follow The Money
I sometimes get the feeling that scandals are breaking out all around us. It seems to be happening in Washington D.C. this week, and I wonder when it’s going to occur in Tennessee. Myth or Real? Illustrating an alleged encounter: Janice meeting Fox in house’s basement, April 2002. Click to make Bigfoot even bigger. My brother Jerry D. Coleman’s "A Carter Farm Investigation – Part Four" has now been posted. The observations are good, and some of the photographs (see below) stimulated, shared, and debated in this melodrama clearly show a difference of opinion on even the landscape of the [...]
Lost World Is Coming
Look what Peter von Puttkamer is bringing to Discovery HD Theater on December 14th, on Animal Planet, December 10th and 17th, 2006, and in Canada on OLN Cable, December 17th, 2006: The Real Lost World. Peter is the director of the successful 2002 series, Monster Hunters, and my all-time favorite documentary about the quest, Sasquatch Odyssey: The Hunt for Bigfoot. This image of the movie poster may be clicked on to enlarge. Of the individuals highlighted on the poster, I only know Dean Harrison, recently of Australia, who has been a helpful and good research associate of mine. Anyone know [...]
Rarer Than Thylacines
Only 30 exist in Maine and they won’t become visible for sightings until October 7, 2006. Overall, only 200 are known to be around, and some of those already have vanished into private hands. They are almost extinct, although just discovered, and the entire group will disappear soon, mostly into private collections. What in the world could I be talking about? Would you believe one of the rarest of rare books to be published on cryptozoology, the volume that contains the exhibition catalogue and essays from the Bates College program? If you are interested in having me pick up a [...]
Cryptozoologists Confusion: Adeek, Illa, Sis
As mentioned here, the group the Seekers decided to sell their often-photographed Johor Bigfoot footcast (pictured in situ above and, as frequently recalled, immediately below). I have learned their recent starting bid was $30,000US. That was beyond what most people can afford, and their Malaysian eBay auction ended on September 27th with no bids. All the "new" news about the cast reminded me that the identity of the woman (above) next to the cast should be tied down. Despite attempts to resolve the question of her name this week, she was misidentified by some informants as Adeek. Her identity is [...]
