Days of Mothman Malaise
Despite strange dark clouds on the horizon, there does seem to be more promising news on 76-year-old John A. Keel’s slow recovery from his heart attack. Keel, as this Mothman time of year rapidly approaches, is recuperating nicely, still in a New York-area hospital. He may be released today or tomorrow, and then be admitted to a rehab center for a few days of physical therapy. Details are still emerging about the recent events. Boston Rob Balks On Bigfoot
I’m on the road again, but don’t forget, as Craig mentions, to watch “Sci Fi Investigates: Bigfoot” tonight, October 18. The New York Daily News has an overview here. There’s one fragment they have as a sentence in their review that says it all: Smirking, most of the time, when he’s not laughing out loud at the absurd earnestness of his less skeptical expedition mates. I may agree with “Boston Rob” on his choice of a baseball team, but I don’t have to like the under-theme of ridicule in his show, as expressed most often non-verbally by Mr. Marino.
Keel Suffers Heart Attack
I’ve learned that John A. Keel suffered a heart attack late last week, and is undergoing surgery in New York City, Monday, October 16, 2006. John A. Keel in 2002, shown here during the release of The Mothman Prophecies motion picture. Word is that he is not in great shape, but hopefully he has come through post-op recovery fine. Hasbro produced this set in 1973, demonstrating a lengthy awareness by the company into Yeti hunts. Wonderful news about the Maine Mystery Beast Banner from Boing Boing. David Pescovitz writes: Maine Mystery Beast banner to be donated to Loren Coleman’s museum On Friday, I posted about artist Paul Szauter’s beautiful Maine Mystery Beast sideshow banner that was to be auctioned off this afternoon. I suggested that the winner might donate it to cryptozoologist Loren Coleman’s International Cryptozoology Museum. Whaddayaknow! Hot on the heels of Lewiston Sun Journal’s Mark LaFlamme being named “Journalist of the Year,” there’s more popular culture news of the Maine Mystery Beast. The 2006 Mount Desert Island Marathon® is to be run on that scenic Maine coastal location on Sunday, October 15, 2006.
