It is only one week until 10,000 BC opens and is in theaters nationwide on March 7th, 2008. Mammoths roaming the screen. Saber-toothed tigers jumping your way. And other surprises awaiting you. And prizes you can win here! I’ve already mentioned the film here, run the trailer, and frankly told you I am a shameless big pre-fan of the forthcoming movie 10,000 B.C.. Now I’m happy to announce some more insights about the film and, for those paying close attention, some cool movie promotion giveaways you can get exclusively through Cryptomundo. More about that in a minute. First, some new [...]
Felix the Cat & Yeti
Okay, this may be merely a Felix the Cat cartoon, but it also may be one of the worst illustrations of misrepresentations in comic history. This cartoon with Felix the Cat and the Abominable Snowman is from 1958. How many misstatements and mistakes do you see in it? (No, I’m not really upset. I’m just playing along with some kind of mock insult to our cryptozoological legacy.) Some of the errors I caught are: – Abominable Snowmen at the North Pole (the Arctic) – They actually are reported to live in the montane valleys of the Himalaya and cross the [...]
Scare Fest Appearance
It has just been announced that I will be a presenter at The Scare Fest, the biggest Horror and Paranormal Convention in the Southeast USA. The event is three horror-filled-days on September 12, 13, and 14, 2008. I am intrigued to learn that this gathering will take place in the heart of Fayette County, Kentucky! The Scare Fest will be held at the Lexington Convention Center in Lexington, Kentucky, one of the largest convention centers in the state. I’ll have to explore the twilight language significance of the Fayette Factor while I am there. Here’s some more info from the [...]
Creature From The Black Lagoon Has Died
Ben Chapman, 82, has passed away this morning, February 21, 2008, at 12:15 AM Hawaii time. Chapman was admitted to the hospital two days ago and died peacefully in his hospital bed. He had a living will and his life support was disconnected yesterday about noon Hawaii time. The family will be having a memorial service at a Catholic Church located near the beach and he will be cremated. Ricou Browning (l) and Ben Chapman (r) both played the Creature (Browning in the water & Chapman on land). The 6′ 5″ Ben Chapman during the filming of the movie. Ben [...]
Animal X Downloads
Yes, Loren Coleman is in the “Winged Creatures” episode, even if he is not in this new trailer from “Animal X.” The trailer was not placed online until 2008. Its appearance is a sign that all of the “Animal X” episodes from three seasons are now obtainable through online ordering. We are seeing a shift from DVDs to online ordering, instant obtaining of cryptozoology documentaries. The “Animal X” overview of this specific program includes images and words, beyond the trailer: Dan and Nat investigate unidentifiable winged creatures reported around the world in their latest investigation. They travel to Mexico, Point [...]
“You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat”
Roy Scheider, 75, the actor best known for his role as a police chief in the blockbuster movie Jaws, died on February 10, 2008. The movie brought to the fore the notion that cryptid Megalodons (Carcharodon megalodon) might still be waiting out there in the oceans of the world, ready to be found anew. Megalodon, the 70 foot, 40 ton prehistoric cousin of the great white shark, were seen as even more scary after Jaws set up all large sharks as tooth-laden swimming demons. (Opinions about sharks have shifted back to conservation, but 1975 is the watershed year in increasing [...]
Galveston Mothman?
In her blog this week, Ha’ri writes in “Mothman – Sighting in Galveston?” of her wonderings and ponderings. She is interested to discover if any large bird-like somethings were seen before any hurricanes hit the coastal Texas city of Galveston. Ha’ri does some research, and rightfully comes to the conclusion there’s nothing to be easily found about a 1969 hurricane – or Mothman sightings there. In the movie The Mothman Prophecies, news articles about the “Houston Batman” were flashed on the screen as the character “Alexander Leek” (“Keel” backwards) talked of how Mothmen were seen before disasters like “the hurricane” [...]
Nyet Strange Wilderness, Si Lara Croft and The Mummy
Talk about a movie drowning in its own swampy mess! I jokingly call for and strongly petition Bigfoot to be removed from this movie, for heaven’s sake, because Bigfoot does not deserve this film. That wasn’t funny, was it? Well, neither is this movie! This may be the worst film to have a Sasquatch in it since the biker flicks made for the drive-in outdoor theaters during the 1970s. The reviews are in and they are not pretty. MSNBC captured it straightforwardly in their review’s headline, “Strange Wilderness scrapes bottom,” and then their subheadline, “Screenwriters seem to have no time [...]
Opens Today: Strange Wilderness
Strange Wilderness opens on February 1, 2008. How it will play in comic cryptofiction cinematic history remains to be seen. Do you think there is any reason that this often-delayed movies was slotted for Football Super Bowl weekend for release? Is there not much hope this will be the comedy blockbuster it was once forecast to be? Did you like it? Does it work as humor? How does the search for Bigfoot come off in the film? Inquiring minds want to know. The plot is about animal enthusiasts who try to help the ratings of their TV reality animal show [...]

Turn your television and lights off, go to full screen, sit back and act like you are back in 1972…and remember, don’t go near that window:
