From the Associated Press to Downeast Magazine, from Boing Boing to Business Wire, from Maine Things Considered to Coast to Coast AM, from Giant Robot to G4tv’s Attack of the Show, from the Maine Sunday Telegram to Fox TV News, from the Southern [...]

Tampa Truth Today – Lizard Man
Tampa Truth Squad Today: Taking on the Lizard Man Lizard Men remembrances seem to be popping up all over, in the midst of the interest in King Kong. But in the realm of media reporting, another Tampa journalist joins Florida Frank in making a major mistake in writing about cryptids. First, in the realm of fiction, in an article by Paul Wuntch of The Dallas Morning News (a subscription site) , he writes: Marilyn Monroe summed it all up. In The Seven Year Itch, she emerges almost in tears from a movie theater showing Creature From the Black Lagoon . [...]
Media: Attack of the Show
I will be on Attack of the Show on the g4tv network on Tuesday, December 13, 2005. The program is an innovative popular culture talk show for the video and computer gaming folks, who happen to include my two elder adolescent sons (Caleb and Malcolm). Perhaps unknown to older cryptozoologists, the gaming world is populated by all kinds of creatures based upon cryptids. For some reason, the Yeti or Yeti-like creatures seem to be extremely popular. What most people furthermore might not realize, as opposed to the myth that only boys are playing games on their Playstation 2s, X-Box 360s, [...]

In three hours it’s easy to cover many cryptozoological subjects, and I look forward to people calling in to discuss anything they want. If you have any questions you want me to answer on air, leave them here in the comments section. I’ll work them into the show, or answer them next week, if C2C doesn’t get to them. Also on with me, via phone from NC, will be my old Fortean friend Mark [...]
Book News: Lizardmen
North Carolina resident and cryptozoologist Mark A. Hall has written a new 2005 book Lizardmen, about the seemingly bipedal reptiloids that have had some curious encounters with humans. These reports cross the investigative path of cryptozoologists, now and then, and have many people scratching their heads. Hall, based on his past writings on this subject in his journal Wonders, explores and extends his theories in this latest book. It looks to be a volume with some intriguing and new material, as is to be expected from Hall’s intellectual works. Here’s a peek inside, with a look at the chapter [...]
Black Lagoon Creature Returns
Creature From the Black Lagoon and Coelacanths You know that cryptozoology is having a culturally significant impact when a movie 50 years old, inspired by a cryptozoological event, is being remade. Variety announced last week that Universal has hired Breck Eisner, the director of last spring’s "Sahara," to steer "Creature From the Black Lagoon" into the mainstream, for a new era of movie viewers, many who are fascinated by real-life cryptids. The original concept for the movie developed from the excitement in the early 1950s that surrounded the Comoros Islands (near Madagascar) discovery of a "living fossil," the coelacanth. After [...]
