The rising tide of interest in The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang continues, and now takes a musical turn. Cryptomundo has kept you informed about how this film won at Slamdance, and of its acclaim. Now comes word that a big music corporation has lined up for an associated contract. The Hollywood Reporter notes today that Sony BMG Music Entertainment has signed the U.S. rights to Tim Skousen’s The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang. The film was the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival audience award winner. Bringing together the people that brought us Napoleon Dynamite, the buzz is so loud about this film, it is [...]
Dragons in Paris
An exhibition and exposition on “Dragons: Science and Fiction” has been announced at the Museum of Natural History in Paris [Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle à Paris (36 rue Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire)] from April 5 though November 6, 2006. Their website can be found by clicking here. Beaucoup de mercis French cryptozoologist Michel Raynal, for this news.
Cryptozoo Museums Worldwide
What and where are your favorite cryptozoology and Bigfoot museums throughout the world? Scotland’s cryptozoology collection at the National Museums of Scotland was recently highlighted in the Scotsman. The easiest exhibits to record, unfortunately, are often the hoaxes. Shown here are a Japanese-made mermaid and a Canadian-created furred trout, both taxidermy fakes. Dr. Geoff Swinney (below), Curator of Lower Vertebrates, Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles, National Museums of Scotland, examines the vertebrae of the Beast of Stronsay, from the carcass of the beast found on an Orkney island beach in 1808. Swinney, who is the resident cryptozoologist, in 1987, confirmed the [...]
Johor Tracks Being Destroyed
Breaking news from Malaysia is hitting the wires today that local authories are bulldozing and destroying physical evidence of the Johor Bigfoot. Cryptozoologists and hominologists are outraged. Our message to Malaysia: Stop the destruction! Reports for March 23 exclaim: Tracks resembling giant footprints in forests around Kampung Lukut and Kampung Temening are being erased, seemingly to distract foreign tour groups on Bigfoot sighting expeditions here. The authorities have cut the eco-tourist influx at these villages and nearby foothills by bulldozing and clearing the secondary forest where the Bigfoot footprints and other evidence were discovered. The New Straits Times broke the [...]
Malayasian Media Misinformation
The Malaysian newspaper, The New Strait Times has done a relatively good job of reporting on the "Malaysian Bigfoot" story, avoiding the sandtraps that exist in the usual media coverage you often read on such events. There has been little use of the "ridicule curtain," that invisible barrier of demeaning coverage that often develops by elitist writers who wish to demonstrate the "masses" don’t know what they are talking about. But that all changed with Rehman Rashid’s Opinion column on March 20th, "They seek him here, they seek him there…" that you will find in today’s New Strait Times. Rashid [...]
Happy St. Cryptids Day
Where have all the green monsters gone? Yes, there are little people*. But Leprechauns mostly live in the lore and in the movies. Walt Disney visits Ireland to recruit a Leprechaun for a forthcoming movie. This week in Mobile, Alabama (hardly a focus of Irish culture), locals, according to The Anomalist Newsline, were reporting a Leprechaun sighting, creating traffic jams around the location: A dead end street in Mobile has become very busy the last couple of days because of people flocking to look at a tree. The street is Lecren Street off of Bayshore Avenue. The crowds started gathering [...]
Almas 2006 Expedition
Here’s an update to John Kirk’s posting. In an exclusive communiqué sent to me this month, Adam Davies and Andrew Sanderson tell of finalizing their next new search. The two UK cryptozoologists, who appeared in the successful new National Geographic documentary about their search for the Orang Pendek, are back, hot on the trail of other hairy hominoids in 2006. They are planning a return expedition to Mongolia and now it is set to occur in June. This time the objective is to find evidence of the elusive Almas. The two close friends are excited to go. Preparations are being [...]
Show Me The Permit, Please
In yesterday’s Cryptomundo update on the Malaysian situation, the permit paradox was highlighted at the end of that review. The Malaysian and international media have focussed on "no one" applying for permits to look for the Johor unknown hairy hominoids. This is being stated while at the same time the government is discouraging foreigners from searching and yet a segment of the regional authority is trying to encourage ecotourism. Confusing, isn’t it? Now comes a reply on this matter. ———- Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2006 09:01:46 +0800 [Malaysian time] To: Loren Coleman Subject: Re: Application Request Dear Loren, Referring to [...]
Neither Boaring nor Boring: Johor’s Bigfoot Brouhaha
Consider this, the first recent sightings of the Johor area "Bigfoot" took place in November 2005. Isn’t it rather amazing that the foreign media is still talking about Malaysia’s unknown hairy hominoids? And despite the fact that this has little to do with the traditional Pacific Northwest Bigfoot? But the news organizations are, and it’s time to pass on some behind-the-scenes exclusive news for Cryptomundo readers. Joshua Gates, 28, the host of the Sci-Fi Channel’s Destination: Truth, was one of the first American reality television filmmakers to get to Malaysia. He did this before the mild restrictions on searching for [...]
