The rising tide of interest in The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang continues, and now takes a musical turn. Cryptomundo has kept you informed about how this film won at Slamdance, and of its acclaim. Now comes word that a big music corporation has lined up for an associated contract.
The Hollywood Reporter notes today that Sony BMG Music Entertainment has signed the U.S. rights to Tim Skousen’s The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang. The film was the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival audience award winner. Bringing together the people that brought us Napoleon Dynamite, the buzz is so loud about this film, it is deafening.
Unfortunately for cryptozoology and cryptofiction fans, the comedy has a cardboard character cryptozoologist and appears to center on an adolescent sci-fi fan and his friends who discover Bigfoot tracks, which may or may not be authentic. Two of the discoverer’s neighbors plot to make a quick buck from, what The Hollywood Reporter calls, “the supposed discovery.”
Look for the soundtrack to be an attention-grabber if BMG Music is interested in the rights.
I wonder what should be on the extended playlist for The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang’s music fans? Or even what’s in the movie? How about Dan Freyer’s “I Still Believe in Bigfoot,” a sample of which you can download from here.
Maybe Dana Krall’s “Big Foot” instrumental? Or the late great Rockabilly Hall of Fame artist Buddy Knox’s “The Bigfoot Song”?
How about getting ahold of the sold-out album, “Songs for a Bigfoot World” by Tom Yamarone? I understand Tom has written a new song, “Jerry Crew (He Knew What to Do).”
You just can’t go wrong with songs by Freyer and Yamarone playing in your Land Rover, as you speed out to the site of your next Bigfoot bushwack, can you? Well, at least in my beat-up ten year old station wagon, I like to hear their stuff. While I’m waiting for my new comp review vehicle, perhaps one of Skoda’s Yeti (hint, hint, to corporate Skoda types), sounds of sweet Sasquatch lyrics make the roadtrips easier on the brain.
What are your favorite Bigfoot songs?
