As Ben Chapman used to say, “the mortals invaded his territory. He didn’t come after us.” Images.
CryptoCinema To Shine in ’09?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? All indicators point to motion pictures being a badly needed form of escapism during these coming times. I anticipate that 2009 might be a big film year for some creatures. Images.
Sound Effects Editor on Boggy Creek Film Dies
Baird Bryant, 80, a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer has passed away, leaving behind a great legacy. Images.
Yes Man & Bigfoot
A strange lawsuit mentioning Peyton Reed’s next project has brought out into the open a Bigfoot presence in his forthcoming December ’08 film. Images.
Sasquatch Assault
Word of another new Bigfoot movie has arrived: Sasquatch Assault. I’m not really interested in writing about it until I see more about the specifics of the cryptid. Anyway, there’s a perfectly good Michael Gingold item that’s already been written about what is known about it at Fangoria. Oh, I’ll share this; the talking point in-house tagline for the flick is “Assault on Precinct 13 with a Sasquatch.” It appears to fit into the new subgenre of blood-and-gore cryptofiction cinema.
Night of the Demon Remembered
Nick Redfern alerts me to the fact a character actor of some note, Brian Wilde, 80, died on March 20, 2008. Like Nick, I recall Wilde for his role of Rand Hobart in the classic 1957 UK movie Night of the Demon (Curse of the Demon in the USA). For me, the film was a pure Jungian psychological look at strange phenomena and “paranormal” events, including the appearance of a mystery felid and a “demonic” creature. (Years later, I would write two books ~ The Unidentified & Creatures of the Outer Edge, with Jerry Clark, which touched on these same [...]
Best & Bottom Bigfoot Flicks
David Coleman (above, no relation) is one of the founders of BijouFlix and author of the novel, Ancient Lake. Today, he is my guest blogger. +++++++ As a distributor (shameless plug!) of Bigfoot movies, I am biased. But as a lover of Bigfoot films, I can’t help but feel the Best & Worst List is something I simply have to ‘wade’ into however deep the ‘swamp waters’ may be! TOP 3 BIGFOOT FILMS (with apologies to David Letterman minus two!) 3. THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN OF THE HIMILAYAS — Terrific photography (rent the Anchor Bay widescreen version if you’ve never seen [...]
Nyet Strange Wilderness, Si Lara Croft and The Mummy
Talk about a movie drowning in its own swampy mess! I jokingly call for and strongly petition Bigfoot to be removed from this movie, for heaven’s sake, because Bigfoot does not deserve this film. That wasn’t funny, was it? Well, neither is this movie! This may be the worst film to have a Sasquatch in it since the biker flicks made for the drive-in outdoor theaters during the 1970s. The reviews are in and they are not pretty. MSNBC captured it straightforwardly in their review’s headline, “Strange Wilderness scrapes bottom,” and then their subheadline, “Screenwriters seem to have no time [...]
Water Horse Invades Japan
I have a feeling that the promotion of Water Horse in Japan is being handled much differently than it was in the USA, where the creature was treated as if it could be your bathtub pet. Here is video of the amazing hologram that was recently created off Tokyo to acknowledge the release of the film in Japan. Sources: Odaiba; Endgadget; The Anomalist.
Take A Boggy Creek Break
Turn your television and lights off, go to full screen, sit back and act like you are back in 1972…and remember, don’t go near that window:
