Alexis Rockman’s art is at Bates College. Have you seen Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale yet? You better hurry. Bigfoot: Legend Meets Science
There’s another Bigfoot talk that has popped up on the radar. It occurs Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in the Lake Oroville area of California. At the end here is the press information on the lecture, which appears to be taking a lead from the now popular "Legend Meets Science" moniker that is becoming overused in various places. In other words, this talk is not to be confused with Jeff Meldrum’s September 2006 book (above), Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, although the individual lecturing was involved with the Skookum cast investigations. 2006 Summer Speaker Series Please join us for a very exciting [...]
New Jersey Bigfoot
How do local Bigfoot groups begin? How do they establish themselves? How do they “get out there” to have the public know they are local investigators? Craig’s group in Texas is a high-evolved and well-oiled machine. But they all start the same way. Most begin as a grassroots effort, and today, since I recently spotlighted the New Jersey Bigfoot on The X-Files, here’s a follow-up on the continuing but new local group in that state: Upcoming Bigfoot Lecture by Drew Vics Thursday, July 20, 2006, at 7:00 PM: “Exploring the Possibility of Bigfoot in New Jersey.” The New Jersey Bigfoot [...]
Mothman + 40
After the success of The Mothman Prophecies, the sleepy town of Point Pleasant has reawakened. The organizers of the annual Mothman Festival at the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, have announced that they will once again have their event. The 5th annual MOTHMAN FESTIVAL will be held here in downtown Point Pleasant on Saturday and Sunday, September 16th and 17th, 2006. This year will mark the 40th anniversary of MOTHMAN’s debut appearance near the TNT area back in November of 1966 and plans for this year’s festival are already underway. The success and magnitude of the MOTHMAN FESTIVAL [...]
Orang Pendek in Maine
Delivered today, for inclusion in the Bates College exhibition, "Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale," the Adam Davies-Andrew Sanderson-obtained Orang Pendek original cast, from September 2001. During their next expedition, they were recorded on the National Geographic Channel’s documentary, Is It Real?: Ape-Man, Episode 14, Season 2, which first aired Monday, February 27, 2006. Please click on the image for a larger version of the photograph. The description of the program asked: Does the Orang Pendek — a.k.a. the "Little Man of Sumatra" — really exist? Those who insist they have seen it describe a three-foot-tall ape-like creature that walks [...]
Bates Opens Cryptozoology Exhibition
The International Cryptozoology Museum (ICM) is sharing its contents through the end of 2006. Over 100 of some of the most significant large and small items from the ICM’s collection are included in my specific room at the new Bates College exhibition, “Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale.” Then, in October, the objects from that gathering and the other artists’ collections move to Kansas City. The entire traveling exhibition will be there through January 2007. Some of the items from the International Cryptozoology Museum’s collection, contained in my installation at Bates, probably will include: – 8 ft-tall, 500 pound “Crookston [...]

Random Notes from Texas: The Bigfoot Exhibition
Random Notes from Texas June 2, 2006 As Craig Woolheater said to Skeptical Inquirer’s Ben Radford and me, after circling for the third time to get a drive-by view of the Alamo, "Now, we can remember the Alamo!" To me, the thing I think that I will most remember about San Antonio is the quite impressive Bigfoot exhibition that Craig has stimulated via curator Willie Mendez at the University of Texas San Antonio’s Institute of Texan Cultures. We got a sneak preview Friday night. As you walk into the darkened beginning section of the huge display, you are taken down [...]
Off to Texas
On Saturday, June 3, 2006, I’ll be giving a talk at the University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas, on "Malaysian Mawas, Flores Hobbits, and Witness Drawings from a Cryptozoological Point of View." I hope to see some Cryptomundo readers there. I’ll be happy to sign your books or talk about the latest cryptozoo news. For more on the event, see here.
Who is Jan Klement?
Who is Jan Klement? Is Bigfoot gay? How can asking questions get me in trouble and even have people leaving me "death threats" on my phone machine? Well, it seems rather easily, it turns out. Was Klement an earth sciences professor? A biology professor? A high school science teacher? Is he still alive? Did he ever exist? Did he see what he says he saw happening between a cow and a Bigfoot? I once wrote that Jan Klement is the "Deep Throat" of the Bigfoot field. Jan Klement is listed as the author of a book surrounded by controversy. The [...]
