Here’s a first look at the cover of The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates, due out at the end of March 2006.
Mystery Cast Quiz
Okay, time for a cryptozoological quiz. What animal made the track from which this cast was made? This is a photograph of a mystery cast in which I know the answer to my inquiry. But I thought you all might like to test your CZ IQ. Post your guess for what cryptid is credited with being the maker of the track. I’ll reveal the answer on Tuesday, March 7th.
New Roach and Palm
Nothing overtly cryptozoological about these tidbits, but I thought I would pass along new evidence that the nature world, in general, is full of surprises, beyond brown sharks. Here’s a couple items about two new species – one a roach and the other a palm tree. In Practical Fishkeeping, the essence of the news is captured in the headline "New Species of Roach Found": A new species of roach has been described from western Greece. Bogutskaya and Iliadou described the new species as Rutilus panosi in a paper in Zoosystematica Rossica, after finding it in the Acheloos River drainage in [...]
Brown Shark Discovered
David Pescovitz over at Boing Boing has the latest on a new shark find. The new brown shark species ( Mustelus hacat) was "discovered in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez. Postgraduate student Juan Carlos Perez noticed the 5-foot long, dark gray-brown animals in 2003 while on a fishing boat studying sharks, but only recently confirmed via genetic testing that they represent a new species," noted Pescovitz.
Attack of the Show Appearance
I will have my second "live" appearance on G4tv’s current news/talk program, Attack of the Show on Tuesday, March 7, 2005, between 4:00 and 5:00 PM Pacific. This will be the first broadcast appearance of Bone Clones’ Homo floresiensis skull replica. I will be discussing this skull in the context of the old reports of small hairy hominids from South Asia, and the current sightings of the Malaysia’s Orang Dalam (which, of course, are much different than Bigfoot encounters ).
Blackfeet Bigfoot
Is there new Bigfoot activity stirring in Montana? Bigfoot sightings among Native peoples often indicate a series might soon follow or already might be occurring. Let us turn our eyes to the Blackfeet. And learn lessons from the Sioux. Caption: At left, Bruce Schildt’s kids stand near a line of tracks their father believes might belong to Bigfoot. The tracks were discovered Jan. 1, when the elder Schildt notified Blackfeet Fish and Wildlife and had them investigate. The best track is the one above. Schildt reports the tracks are about 18 inches long and 10 inches wide, and the stride [...]

More New Tracks
More photos of Malaysian tracks make for new analyses and more conjecture on what the prints might be. What individually has been more mystifying in the recent publication of merely one track’s image seems clearer in this asphalt trackway. The Sumatran rhinoceros is rare in Malaysia, but this muddy series of prints appears to show, for the first time, that these are from a rhino double-stepping into its own tracks on this road. This is the newest track from Malaysia, just published on February 28. It is one of three footprints found that were perhaps 20 cm across and 40, [...]
A Track Is Not A Foot
Today, guest contributor Mark A. Hall, author of books on cryptozoology, the inventor of the concept of True Giants, and the editor of Wonders, shares his thoughts on the Malaysian evidence of four-toed tracks. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have looked over the record of tracks for True Giants after all these impressions from Malaysia have been published. One of the first four-toed track photographs from Malaysia, December 2005. We are always learning more about these creatures. We know they have a mammalian limb so a fifth toe was once a part of their limbs, and it still might show up as it [...]
