Guess what just showed up on eBay? Yep, a replica of the Montauk Monster. It looks very well done, nice color tones, and a good representation of the weekend wonder, if you ask me. The fake is above and the photo of the real deal is below. This is something I definitely want for the International Cryptozoology Museum. Considering I coined the name, perhaps I could get a discount? According to the notice at eBay (I’ve edited it for spelling and grammar): “Finally own this piece of history. BMFX FX Studios is proud to present this custom made prop. Made [...]
Joker’s Card, Jokawild, and Mothman
The Joker is wild. But so are a many other things overlapping with The Dark Knight. This is a Fortean piece, so if you were looking for something cryptozoologically pure, be afraid, be very, very afraid. The posting you are about to read contains twilight language musing and other treks on side streets you may have only rarely been down. Following my posting on “The Dark Knight Curse”, a phenomenon that was even discussed on CNN yesterday, some questioned whether or not the Joker is actually holding a “calling card” with a decapitated head. I was told that in the [...]

Its back has 5 lines in light chocolate and five lines in yellow. Its tail has 3 lines. This lizard was found in a cave in the Ta Kou Nature Reserve in Binh [...]
Hobbit Critic Accused of Financial Fraud
Hobbit critic Professor Teuku Jacob (above) passed away last October 17, 2007, and the critic of the new hominid species who took Jacob’s place as most outspoken is now in hot water.. Saying he sees the irony in his accusations of monetary gain for fame, one of the harshest skeptics of the claims that Homo floresiensis, the Hobbit, is a new species, biological anthropologist Maciej Henneberg has been accused of financial fraud. The Australian in their August 7, 2008 edition, has science writer Leigh Dayton laying out the facts of the case. The University of Adelaide researcher who accused the [...]

Big Bird Attacks in Nova Scotia
Are these the leading suspects? What kind of new winged attack is coming through a ground assault? Reporter Beverley Ware of the Chronicle Herald in Nova Scotia writes of “‘Damn big bird’ giving some South Shore folks a fright ~ Enormous winged creature rushes, swoops at Crousetown residents,” for Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Myles Rafuse carries a big stick on his daily walks after a “damn big bird” came at him during a recent stroll after church. “I had quite an experience with it, I tell you,” said the Crousetown resident who turns 80 in a couple of weeks. In [...]

Elfin Photo Released
Tahoe Elf? Nevada Faery? Lake Tahoe Leprechaun? Deneau’s Hobgoblin? There is a world of good names out there, and this one cannot go down as a “leprechaun-alien” for long, please. Lloyd Deneau, 41, of Florida was on vacation at Lake Tahoe, located along the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City, Nevada. He decided to photograph some interesting trees in a forest there. (When? Exactly where? The reports don’t say.) The he thought he’d seen a tiny creature darting from the forest. Deneau took out his camera and proceeded to take a picture of it. What he saw [...]
The Dark Knight Curse
A Batman beheading? Have people so quickly forgotten a recent tragedy? Heightened awareness of decapitations has occurred in the last few days due to the incidents in Brazil, Dubai, Greece, and, of course, the bus event in Canada (during the showing of The Legend of Zorro). Also, please note earlier The Mask of Zorro features Zorro’s/Diego’s brother’s beheading. In that Zorro movie, the decapitation is done by a sadistic, psychotic Texian Army Captain named Harrison Love. There remains no explanation of why the name “Badger” became the code word given to suspect Vincent Li of Edmonton, Alberta, by the law [...]
New Gorilla Population Estimate Criticized
For years cryptozoological researchers have been questioned and criticized for estimating the population of large hairy unknown primates in North America, most often called Bigfoot and Sasquatch. Now comes news that the world is excited by the findings from the Wildlife Conservation Society that the western lowland gorilla subspecies is estimated to be 125,000 animals strong. Xihuanet news is reporting that wildlife researchers on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, announced a major increase in the population of lowland gorillas after a new census tallied more than 125,000 in an 18,000-square-mile (47,000-square-kilometer) deeply forested area of the Republic of Congo. Estimates from [...]
