Fantastic Fest quick pick
The Wild Man of the Navidad — A Texas horror movie through and through, this redneck thriller vivifies an old Lone Star legend about a Bigfoot-like monster stomping through the backwoods and terrorizing folks. Cast with a fun, fond drive-in vibe, this low-budget shocker’s filled with shotguns and sheriffs and Southern gothic weirdos. It was co-produced by Kim Henkel, co-writer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a palpable influence on the movie. Directors Duane Graves and Justin Meeks and members of the cast will conduct a Q&A after the film. (11:45 p.m. local time Sunday and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Alamo South)
