Check your local listings for the airtime in your area. This is the episode that both Craig Woolheater and Loren Coleman were involved in for this series. The film crew was in the field with members of Craig’s research group during his field operation, as well as spending time with Craig in Jefferson, Texas, and at Caddo Lake. The shooting also included a day trip to Fouke, Arkansas to check [...]
Animal X Downloads
Yes, Loren Coleman is in the “Winged Creatures” episode, even if he is not in this new trailer from “Animal X.” The trailer was not placed online until 2008. Its appearance is a sign that all of the “Animal X” episodes from three seasons are now obtainable through online ordering. We are seeing a shift from DVDs to online ordering, instant obtaining of cryptozoology documentaries. The “Animal X” overview of this specific program includes images and words, beyond the trailer: Dan and Nat investigate unidentifiable winged creatures reported around the world in their latest investigation. They travel to Mexico, Point [...]
Super Bigfoot Sunday?
Actually, Bigfoot does not seem to be part of Super Bowl Sunday for 2008. The game is in Arizona, so even the “off-the-field” media attention is not on any version of the Southwestern Sasquatch. Or even Skinwalkers. The news organizations could have interviewed some locals (Natives and others) in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah on Skinwalkers, couldn’t they? But noooo. Right after the game, the news organizations will turn their cameras back in the direction of the “Super Tuesday” (also called “Super Duper Tuesday” and “Super Tsunami Tuesday”) primary races. As far as cultural cryptofiction impact, the superbad film Strange [...]

Monster Quest ~ The Real Hobbit + DSD ~ Loch Ness
Monster Quest: The Real Hobbit Travel to the interior of Sumatra, in Indonesia, in a search for what locals call the Orang Pendak [sic], translated as: Man of the Woods. In 2004 skeletal remains were found on the neighboring island of Flores and named “the Real Hobbit.” Could Orang Pendak [sic], with its human face, be a surviving ancestor to the Flores Man? An expedition is launched deep within the rainforest. The natives claim to see the creature often, and they even find footprints of an unknown upright walking beast. Will camera traps reveal its identity? One-part history, one-part science [...]
Hobbits, Ebu Gogo, and Orang Pendek
History Channel’s “MonsterQuest” is going to be investigating the socalled “real Hobbits” in their episode premiering on January 16th, 2008, at 10PM ET. The official summary of the program notes: “A MonsterQuest expedition will deploy researchers and the latest technology into the jungle, searching for evidence of a creature natives describe as half man, half ape.” This will be cryptozoologist Adam Davies (author of a forthcoming Anomalist Books title), who will be leading the “MonsterQuest” crew on an investigation of Orang Pendek activities, for one part of the program. Various cryptids and related hominoids discussed will be the “Hobbits” (i.e. [...]
Johor Bigfoot Search On Again
Members of a television crew from the United States enter the jungles of Kampung Mawai in search of Bigfoot. Who are the filmmakers in Johor right now? It is not the film crew from “MonsterQuest,” as they were there in 2007, Doug Hajicek tells me today. Furthermore, it is known that “Destination Truth” already filmed in Johor well over a year ago. It appears a documentary effort to gather footage from South Asia is in play this week. Yet another search for the unknown hairy hominoids of Johor is occurring, as learned from this new update via breaking news from [...]

Skookum’s Dr. Swindler Dies Suddenly
Sadly word has just reached Cryptomundo of the death a month ago of a figure important to the investigation of the Skookum Cast. University of Washington professor emeritus of anthropology, World War II veteran, consummate teacher, and beloved father, husband and friend of cryptozoology, Daris R. Swindler, 82, died suddenly in Spokane, Washington, on December 6, 2007, of cancer. Though a longtime skeptic of Sasquatch, Swindler was one of the few experts willing to examine physical evidence cited in support of the unknown hominoids’ existence. Swindler’s opinion regarding Bigfoot changed after the September 22, 2000, discovery of the so-called Skookum [...]
Beyond Loch Ness
Coming to the Sci Fi Channel this coming Saturday, January 5, 2008, this film may be the answer to those who are suffering from cavities due to any sweetness overloads from The Water Horse. Beyond Loch Ness appears to be cable television’s contribution to the B-movie horror fare for lake monsters. So Nessie is a killer, humm? Get your popcorn ready, if you live in North America. Screenings in Scotland may have to wait until after the natives burn down the Sci Fi offices. Who do you think will survive at the end of the movie?
