Be forewarned that currently a certain cable program is looking for a cryptozoologist to hold up to ridicule on their show. They are stepping up their attempts to find someone for a cryptozoology attack episode. I was approached by them before the Bates Symposium. They wanted to supposedly interview me about the history of cryptozoology. However, I knew their technique is one in which they use clips of experts on the subjects they wish to ridicule, then with vigor and in nasty interjects, brutally make fun of the individual and the subject. They wanted me to sign a long release [...]
Andes’ Ucumar in new TV Series
Ooops, I meant “new TV movie,” of course. This is a television film directed by Fred Wolf, who co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Gaulke. Look for Bigfoot hunting to be the next wave in fictional television productions. First out of the gate: "Strange Wilderness" in 2006. The television movie would join the growing ranks of new television series with cryptozoological themes, like "Surface" on NBC-TV. The plot for "Strange Wilderness" has two "animal enthusiasts" heading to the Andes in search of Bigfoot to boost the ratings of a show in trouble, which, of course, is named "Strange Wilderness." Perhaps someone [...]
Bush Bumps Bigfoot
I flew to New York, and I just flew back. "Fox & Friends" had been promoting that they were going to talk about Bigfoot this morning and I was the guest. They were showing footage of the Patterson-Gimlin film (I sure hope they paid Mrs. Patterson the user fee for this tease). They put the makeup on me (ugh) so my nose won’t shine. They sent me from the first Green Room to the second one, closer to the studio. I had my Yeti hair, reproduction of the 1967 filmsite footprint, and my Gigantopithecus blacki skull as my on-camera props, [...]
Bridgewater Triangle 2005
Another benefit of Halloween newspaper articles is that the rare update appears via a well-researched and well-written piece. Today finds one of the best examples of this in "Tales from the swamp: From ape-like creatures to glowing lights, Hockomock has kept its secrets for centuries" by Ross A. Muscato, in the October 30, 2005 issue of the Boston Sunday Globe. Muscato, in this long and detailed essay tells of how: Over generations, many have believed the Hockomock is home to spirits, strange animals, and more. Stories abound: There are the vicious, giant dogs with red eyes seen ravenously sinking their [...]
Media Day
Media Day, Cryptozoology, and Halloween I am happy you found your way to Cryptomundo. But think about it, how do people hear about cryptozoology? From the media, of course. Television reality programming, books, radio shows, the internet, movies, magazines. All forms of the media, creating a whole new set of cryptozoologists-in-training. There are many choices out there for people, and oftentimes cryptozoologists are asked to do interviews. I do them because I am interested in a serious, adventurous, scientific profile of cryptozoology being shared with the public. Many teachers and parents have told me that nonreaders have turned into readers [...]
Media Alert: Lake Monsters
Being broadcast tonight, and reportedly to be repeated for months to come, will be "Weird Travels: Lake Monsters" (Sunday, 23 October 2005, 10:00 p.m. Eastern) on the Travel Channel. The episode details cryptozoological research and hunts for the Loch Ness Monsters (Nessie) at Loch Ness, Scotland, and Champ at Lake Champlain in New York, Vermont, and Quebec. The producer and crew stopped by to interview me on August 10, and they had just been to Lake Champlain. My time with them was serious and well-balanced. They did tell me that they had just taped footage of the Vermont Expos mascot, [...]
Sasquatch on golf courses
Watching a tribute on ESPN to Tiger Woods tonight, an ad flashes on. People are describing something they have seen on a golf course, large, with a flat face, and other imagery that any Bigfooter would recognize as reflective of our quest. Then, SQ appears, followed by other letters…until you see "SASQUATCH…Coming in November." Nike is introducing a new club named "SasQuatch," and the ads are certainly entertaining. Meanwhile, a few months ago, I was interviewed by GolfStyles Ohio reporter Jon E. Hale about sightings of Bigfoot (Eastern Bigfoot, Windigo, Marked Hominoids?) near Ohio golf courses. Jon informs me the [...]
