Has the manatee reached Poughkeepsie yet? The Amherst Times reported on August 8: Eleven years ago today, The Times ran a little piece about a male manatee who decided, for reasons unknown, to swim up the East River. Now, the manatee nation appears to have sent another emissary northward, though the sex of this one is unspecified so far. It was sighted several times in the Hudson River last weekend, along the piers in Manhattan and as far north as Sleepy Hollow. The forthcoming Storsjoyran Great Lake Festival on July 27-29, 2006, will have the local “president” Ewert Ljusberg of Jämtland making his annual speech to the region, again marked by a new imaginative and spectacular entrance. Bates Opens Cryptozoology Exhibition
The International Cryptozoology Museum (ICM) is sharing its contents through the end of 2006. Over 100 of some of the most significant large and small items from the ICM’s collection are included in my specific room at the new Bates College exhibition, “Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale.” Then, in October, the objects from that gathering and the other artists’ collections move to Kansas City. A week ago it was mentioned here that D. Robert Carter wrote an article in the Provo, Utah Daily Herald, entitled “Mysterious Monsters Inhabited Utah Valley Waters.” Today, Sunday, May 07, 2006, part two, "The Meandrous Monster Migrates to Utah Lake" has been published. Editor Lee Murdock of Fly Fishing Magazine brings to our attention North Carolina’s Mitchell River Monster. In a look at Water Babies and, of course, the Bear Lake Monsters, D. Robert Carter has written a new article in the Provo, Utah Daily Herald, entitled “Mysterious Monsters Inhabited Utah Valley Waters,” published, according to google news alerts, a little after midnight, local time, Sunday, April 30, 2006. The “Pawapicts, or Water Babies, whom native Americans believed inhabited the waters of Utah Lake, Provo River and other aqua pura” are said to come “in various shapes and sizes. Maine Gators
Earlier this week, Cryptomundo made mention of crocs in Maine’s fictional Lake Placid, and now there’s been an actual report of an alligator found in the state. Thank goodness the Cryptomundo blog was just a coincidence.
