Batten down the hatches. Tom Biscardi is reportedly on his way to Wisconsin. Perhaps people have failed to look at the frames from the 1970s’ films? Or read their history? Is there a sucker really born every minute? What other boring clichés might apply? Was anyone listening when Linda Martin noted who was coming to dinner? A supporter in 2005, Martin gave background insights into the team: “…the Great American Bigfoot Research Organization visited Happy Camp…The team included world-famous researcher Tom Biscardi, Joan Brandt, Peggy Marx, Lee Hickman, Tim McMillen and Rob Shorey. Peggy Marx is the widow of Ivan [...]
Hoodwinked in Arizona
Who is hoodwinking whom? The Associated Press is carrying a summary article out of Arizona, telling of Tom Biscardi (above) going on an expedition there. The piece leaves out any examination of Biscardi’s past and is a chopped up version of a longer article, which is found below. But what is the background story on this original Arizona news item? Can we pull back the drapes surrounding this media Oz, and figure out how this article was constructed? Here’s some details. On Thursday, November 2, 2006, a reporter from the Arizona Republic named Dennis Wagner emailed me. He said he [...]
Loren’s Top 10 Reasons For Cryptozoology Hoaxes
The cropped photograph of the so-called Ameranthropoides loysi, de Loys’ alleged "ape," one of the most sinister hoaxes of all times (see #10 below). My choices for the top ten major reasons that exist for hoaxing in cryptozoology are: 1) fiscal gain (e.g. allegedly the reason behind a hoaxster’s "Coast to Coast AM" radio appearances was so the guest’s broadcast claims of a "captured Bigfoot" video he said was going to post online would encourage "subscribers" to pay a fee to "see" it; the fact he did not deliver did not mean he ever gave the money back, allegedly); 2) [...]
Mary Green Goes Ballistic
On Tuesday, October 10, 2006, Cryptomundo began to receive emails from Mary Green demanding that a photograph that was reprinted here from a Will Duncan posting – which supported Duncan’s pro-Carter farm position – be removed from our site. It has now been removed. Allow me to share the background and emails regarding this exchange. As can be seen in these emails, Mary Green has given her permission for these emails to be posted fully so you all can see what an evil person I am. Intriguingly, her call for the photograph to be taken down has ended up censoring [...]
Cartergate: Follow The Money
I sometimes get the feeling that scandals are breaking out all around us. It seems to be happening in Washington D.C. this week, and I wonder when it’s going to occur in Tennessee. Myth or Real? Illustrating an alleged encounter: Janice meeting Fox in house’s basement, April 2002. Click to make Bigfoot even bigger. My brother Jerry D. Coleman’s "A Carter Farm Investigation – Part Four" has now been posted. The observations are good, and some of the photographs (see below) stimulated, shared, and debated in this melodrama clearly show a difference of opinion on even the landscape of the [...]
Mermaid Photos Again
Today, Cryptomundo has received more emails telling us that strange and mysterious Mermaid photos supposedly snapped in Mexico, Dominican Republic, or Malaysia are circulating on the Internet. These emails are asking for us to either identify the “Mermaid” or post the photographs on Cryptomundo. But we have already done this. As I mentioned a few days ago when I published several of the photos here, these images are of a taxidermy fake. The object pictured is a piece of art from American Juan Cabana, who is well-known for his smaller fake Feejee Mermaids. It probably was photographed from various angles [...]
$17 Million For Baby Bigfoot
Have you heard that the young Bigfoot caught in Maine has been sold to a mystery buyer for $17 million dollars? Don’t laugh. Yet. That’s what I’m being told has happened. When a Vegas casino or secret international corporation announces they have a baby Bigfoot in the near future, I don’t want anyone to say they weren’t informed here first! The capture and transportation of a baby Bigfoot (a/k/a "Yarwen" – whatever that is) would not have been an easy activity to accomplish. Above is part of the relocation, imagined, comically but sadly, by Peter Loh. Okay, okay, your credulity [...]
What Is A Yarwen?
Has a Yarwen been captured in Maine? Read more about that question here. In this column, I wish to explore what kind of monsters (from creatures to humans) might be behind the use of such a word as "Yarwen." First, let’s consider that this term is not being used loosely, but very specifically to describe a person’s killing of an adult cryptid and the transporting of its baby. The mental graphic images of a young hominoid in a cage in New Jersey, yes, Jersey, are just more than I can take, but I’ll press onward, in the service of cryptozoology’s [...]
Bigfoot Contactees: 50 Years of Coquettishness
In my California days, when I began looking into the reports of people having intimate encounters with hairy bipedal beasts, I use to file them away as "Bigfoot contactees." Nowadays, these kinds of accounts are becoming more frequent, or at least, more frequently discussed. Can we open-mindedly talk about cases like these, and come away feeling different about the reports given by Thom Powell in his book, The Locals: A Contemporary Investigation of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch Phenomenon, and those shared by Janice Carter Coy and Mary Alayne Green in their infamous tome? In other words, can we accept some of what [...]
Sunday Op-Ed Funnies
Johor Hominid Says: “What’s this I’ve heard about some missing photographs in Maine? Would you like to see some drawings of them?” ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Meanwhile, deep in the rainforests of Malaysia….
