There’s an interesting little note in Publishers Weekly this morning. In an item entitled “Forget Later, Alligator—Let’s Publish Now” by Lynn Andriani, we already can see the reaction to the gator attacks we discussed earlier, here and here. Cryptomundo addressed why such news is of interest, also in this link. Andriani writes: Publishers often speed up books’ publication dates if relevant news events—earthquakes, blackouts, mining accidents—take place. Now they can add alligator attacks to the list. Lyons Press, which planned on releasing Killer ’Gators and Crocs: Gruesome Encounters from Across the Globe by Michael Garlock in November, has moved the [...]
Another Malaysian Mawas Book With Photos?!!
Oh no, more hype on the Johor Mawas? My goodness, those Malaysian media folks are drumming up more interest in their local "Bigfoot" again. How dare they? Are they just trying to stir up folks at Cryptomundo? And now they are talking about two books? And is this a new cryptid name, Orang Lenggor? What’s up with all of this as we go six months deep into this story? Haven’t we been here before? Yes, but, hey, is there different information that exists in the news? Well, that’s why we are reporting on it here. A new article published on [...]

Thunderbird Film Discovered
Wisconsin writer and investigator Todd Roll has discovered an early forgotten, overlooked film that coincidentally appeared as a precursor to the famous Thunderbird flap in the 1970s. The movie was released in 1974, and entitled The Legend of Hillbilly John. Three years later, with the attempted airborne abduction of Marlon Lowe by two giant birds at Lawndale, Illinois, on July 25, 1977, the modern era of Thunderbird sightings began. The first investigator on the scene was my brother, Jerry, and the first write-up of the case came from his rough notes in Creatures of the Outer Edge. Based on a [...]
Are Eastern Bigfoot Aggressive?
I was talking to Roger Knights today, about the August 13, 1965 story of Monroe, Michigan, when Christine van Acker and her mother Mrs. Ruth Owens, had an encounter with a black 7-feet tall Bigfoot. The Bigfoot reached inside their car, giving Christine a black eye. Knights reminded me that it might not have been an “unprovoked assault” from the Bigfoot’s point of view, because their car had “brushed past” the Bigfoot before coming to a stop. Maybe I have been blaming the eastern Bigfoot for being too aggressive? Maybe not? Talking about this case certainly reminded me of other [...]

New Straits Times Book Has Bigfoot Pictures Sunday, 07 May 2006 By R. Sittamparam ———————————————————————— JOHOR BARU: A book on the Johor Bigfoot, said to include exclusive photographs of the elusive creature, has caused a stir among cryptozoologists around the world. The book authored by local writers and researchers, including the man in the thick of Bigfoot research in Johor, Vincent Chow, is set to be released in the next few months. Chow said yesterday he had seen the Bigfoot photographs, which belonged to an individual. He added the individual wished to remain anonymous for the time being. "The owner [...]
New Mothman Documentary
Why is this man smiling? Should this man be smiling? What movie were these two below in? If you read the first man’s column today in the Charleston Daily Mail you’d probably discover that the second man might not be smiling because guy number one, Dave Peyton, miswrote the name of the movie based on John A. Keel’s book as The Mothman Chronicles. Of course, Keel’s book is The Mothman Prophecies and so is the Richard Gere and Laura Linney movie. (Nice shirt Ms. Linney has on. I’m lucky enough to have it for my museum, and that does make [...]
Bigfoot, Not Bigfeet – Continued
Roger Knights, the intellectually-aware Bigfoot correspondent to many, has followed a comment to my original “Bigfoot, Not Bigfeet” posting that deserves to be addressed separately, with room for more comments, here. He writes: The Bords were as knowledgeable as anyone, and they used “Bigfeet” as the plural in their Casebook, and retained that usage in the version republished last year. (E.g., in the title of Ch. 7, on p. 121.)…A much better indication of a natural (unaffected) plural is the case of the Blackfoot tribe of Indians. The natural tendency of English-speakers is to refer to a group of them [...]
Manimal – The Conclusion
Is Manimal More Man Than Animal? by Dmitri Bayanov © 2006 International Center of Hominology Moscow, Russia Conclusion It is said that the significance of a scientific theory can be measured by the time it impeded scientific progress. Let’s hope the “ape model” theory won’t go down in history as very significant in this respect. Still it plays a major part in causing the Bigfoot research community to turn the blind eye to the Carter Farm case and the book 50 Years with Bigfoot: Tennessee Chronicles of Co-Existence. In my opinion, after this book business as usual is not on [...]
