In a previous recent blog, “Do Right Wingers Hate Bigfoot?,” one comment was made by Amdusias: “On the subject of Jesus and Bigfoot, I have marveled for some time at how much the image on the Shroud of Turin resembles the portrayal of Bigfoot from the Six Million Dollar Man TV series. There must be a connection between that show and DiVinci’s Priory.” (Hopefully, it was left with the same sense of humor you are now reading it. If you don’t have a sense of humor about popular cultural images regarding Jesus or Bigfoot, read no further.) But I think [...]
Sasquatch Assault
Word of another new Bigfoot movie has arrived: Sasquatch Assault. I’m not really interested in writing about it until I see more about the specifics of the cryptid. Anyway, there’s a perfectly good Michael Gingold item that’s already been written about what is known about it at Fangoria. Oh, I’ll share this; the talking point in-house tagline for the flick is “Assault on Precinct 13 with a Sasquatch.” It appears to fit into the new subgenre of blood-and-gore cryptofiction cinema.
Winnipeg’s Sighting Statue
Albert Klyne shows off the statue he made of the creature he says he spotted near his home in 2001. (Jason Halstead, Sun Media). Pick up your computer and turn it on its side, by 90 degrees, or if it is easier, merely tilt your head, to see the proper configuration of the object he carved. He calls himself a sort of Dr. Frankenstein, but Albert Klyne isn’t worried about his creation coming to life. What concerns the 63-year-old, is whether his muse will come back now that his masterpiece is near complete. “It gave me creepy feelings while I [...]

Do Right Wingers Hate Bigfoot?
Let’s try to follow the logic on this one. If you happen to produce a documentary about Jesus Christ that holds a thesis that right wingers don’t like, you can be almost labeled a near-nutcase because you have also produced the documentary “Bigfootville,” according to two conservative bloggers. Your ability to be a critical thinker is called into question if you produce documentaries on Bigfoot and Roswell, but if you raise questions about the story of Jesus Christ (demonstrating your critical thinking?) you are merely called “bogus” because of faults in your “background”? I am not here to defend or [...]
Tarzan Creator’s Grandson Dies
Tarzan of the Apes, the first book cover, 1914. In Mark Evanier’s blog, News From Me, he writes that Danton Burroughs, the grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs and “a major force in keeping that man’s work alive,” died Wednesday evening, April 30, 2008, at his home in Tarzana, California. The suburb, of course, was named for his grandfather’s legendary creation. Danton Burroughs was 64. He was the son of John Coleman Burroughs, who was himself distinguished in the arts as a photographer and illustrator. Burroughs had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease, but the immediate cause of death was said to [...]
Latest Fake Bigfoot Video?
This is suppose to be a new – specifically taken on April 19, 2008 – video of a “Bigfoot sighting in a remote region of Transylvania County, North Carolina.” Instead, what I see is another video that is so faked, from the human in the suit to the less-than-clear wording describing it, I am shocked it is called a “Bigfoot sighting” vs what it is – a dramatic production staged for the camera. Bubba Cromer, who sent this to me, has produced a film that is good movie, which is a delightful comedy milestone in cryptofiction, but why are these [...]
Cary Stayner’s Bigfoot
Cary Stayner (above) is the Valentine Weekend Yosemite Killer who said he had an encounter with Bigfoot. He later used his hunt for Bigfoot to get closer to one of his victims, the park ranger he beheaded. A relative of Stayner’s ~ named Jeff [last name on file] ~ has written to me via Cryptomundo, and sends along these observations of Stayner: I would like to add as a family member to Cary Stayner, as long as I can remember, Cary was out running and climbing mountains. I remember when he first had told me and my brother of what [...]
Bigfoot Motel Shaken
A moderate earthquake hit a mountainous region of Northern California on Tuesday night, April 28, 2008. There are no immediate reports or injury or damage. The magnitude-5.2 temblor struck at 8:03 p.m. Pacific time, centered about 11 miles southeast of the town of Willow Creek in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Willow Creek is about 320 miles north of San Francisco. The last significant earthquake in the region was on April 25, 1992, when a magnitude 7.2 temblor struck on the Humboldt County coast near Petrolia, triggering a minor tsunami, according to the USGS. The [...]
