2007 BRINGS BIGFOOT BACK TO THE STATES
PORTLAND, Maine (Wireless Flash) — 2007 was big year for Bigfoot in America.
Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman says the past year has launched Bigfoot into the spotlight and brought back interest for the hairy creature in America after some very credible stateside sightings.
For instance, the red-haired “skunk ape” lurking around in Florida suggested that a relative of Bigfoot may be living in the Sunshine State.
Thanks to the Sci-Fi Channel’s mythbusting show, “Destination Truth,” the Yeti got some play in 2007 with a November episode which showed the film crew discovering a footprint they believed to be a Yeti’s in the Khumbu region of Nepal. [There was no broadcast showing this, but only a news conference discussing the discovery and future program. Perhaps Flash News is mixing that event with the November History Channel broadcast of the Sasquatch Attack episode on "MonsterQuest." - LC]
2007 was the 40th anniversary of the infamous [humm? what does infamy have to do with it? - LC] “Patterson-Gimlin” 1967 Bigfoot footage, which shows a female Sasquatch running [she's strolling - LC] in the woods in Bluff Creek, California, and remains the best piece of evidence for Bigfoot to this day.
The Jacob’s Creature in Florida [this should be Pennsylvania, of course - LC] also created a Bigfoot buzz, and although the picture is believed to be a mangy bear, Coleman says the photos still helped get people talking about the possibilities of Bigfoot.
Finally, the 2010 Winter Olympics mascots were announced this year and one of the icons includes a Sasquatch named “Quatchi.”
