As Cryptomundo readers know, especially from a recent blog entry, the Bates cryptozoology and art exhibition has moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Shown above, Marc Swanson’s White Yeti (a/k/a “Killing Moon”) is part of the exhibition, Cryptozoology: Out of Time Place Scale. The collection – from art from artists from around the world to nonfiction evidence & artifacts from my cryptozoology museum – opens in Missouri with a mini-symposium: A Cryptozoology Roundtable Conversation Date: October 26, 2006 Time: 7:00 pm Central Location: Epperson Auditorium, 4415 Warwick Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri Description: On the eve of the exhibition opening of “Cryptozoology: [...]
California Cryptozoic
What: “CALIFORNIA CRYPTOZOIC” When: October 28 – November 25, 2006 Opening Saturday October 28, 9pm – Partytime Who: Artist Megan Whitmarsh (visit her site for her little Yeti film) Where: October, 28 2006 at the New Image Art Gallery, 7908 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90046 How Much: Free “Yeti does Disco” with bling bling or goes Star Wars, well, is sort of weird, I’d say. Or very normal, nowadays. After all, if Wikipedia has an entry on “bling bling” originating from Jamacian patois and noting the contradictory reality that the “bling bling diamonds” are probably conflict diamonds, obtained [...]
Yeti Jacket
Hey, I want one of those as a gift for the holidays, don’t you? David Pescovitz mentions a great new piece of cryptozoology outerwear to add to anyone’s wish list. David writes at Boing Boing: This amazing track jacket embroidered with Tim Biskup’s Yeti illustration is part of his Gama-Go collection for Fall. It’s $78 and I am so deeply saddened that it doesn’t come in XXL to fit my Sasquatch frame. Thank goodness the Gama-Go collection has a soft but durable, fieldworthy but comfortably-sized X-L with good lines to fit me! (My apologies to anyone that didn’t see that [...]
Maine Mutant Reporter Honored
The “Maine Mutant” by Mike Lemos. Remember the origins of the Maine Mutant, from the words of a beat journalist? Recall all the buzz from the initial stories written by reporter Mark LaFlamme, who brought the beast to everyone’s attention? Guess what? Mark was just named the “Journalist of the Year” for the State of Maine! Here’s part of what the Lewiston Sun Journal had to say about this shocking news in their Sunday, October 8, 2006, issue: The Maine Press Association has chosen Sun Journal crime reporter Mark LaFlamme as Journalist of the Year….[and] announced [the award] at the [...]

Boing Boing Podcast
My interview with Boing Boing has been posted by David Pescovitz. Travel over to Boing Boing by clicking here to find the links to the podcast and other links. Here’s what David has to say… Friday, October 6, 2006 Get Illuminated! podcast with Loren Coleman On this week’s edition of Get Illuminated! we chatted with Loren Coleman. As BB readers know, Loren is the world’s leading cryptozoologist who has spent the last four decades studying "hidden animals," from Bigfoot and Yeti to Nessie and Chupacabras, and the culture surrounding them. He blogs about his curious findings at Cryptomundo and is [...]
Cartergate: Follow The Money
I sometimes get the feeling that scandals are breaking out all around us. It seems to be happening in Washington D.C. this week, and I wonder when it’s going to occur in Tennessee. Myth or Real? Illustrating an alleged encounter: Janice meeting Fox in house’s basement, April 2002. Click to make Bigfoot even bigger. My brother Jerry D. Coleman’s "A Carter Farm Investigation – Part Four" has now been posted. The observations are good, and some of the photographs (see below) stimulated, shared, and debated in this melodrama clearly show a difference of opinion on even the landscape of the [...]
Mystery Cryptozoologist Photo
Due to dogged diligence, indepth investigative inquiries, and long hours in pursue of the truth, Cryptomundo brings you today the identity of the mystery cryptozoologist pictured all year by the North American media, next to the now famous Johor Bigfoot cast. You remember the photo, shown above? The cast was found in February 2006, at Kampung Temenin Lama, Kota Tinggi. This specific image of the track cast shows a curious individual pointing out this piece of alleged Bigfoot evidence found by the Seekers, SPI, and the Sci-Fi filmmakers. She was not identified in the media reports at the time. But [...]
Bigfoot vs Mummy
Will the above “mummy” displace efforts to seriously study the “Johor Bigfoot”? As previously mentioned here, the group the Seekers have decided to sell the oft-photographed Johor Bigfoot footcast (see below). The cast is the one that Joshua Gates, the host of the Sci-Fi Channel’s Destination: Truth, and his producer Neil Mandt were filming in Johor, last February. Their reality program does not seem to be on the fall schedule, however. Syed Abdullah (left) and Dr. Kenny Fong with the Singapore-based group, SPI, are shown above with the cast. The importance of this cast to the Seekers has waded. That [...]
Mermaid Photos Again
Today, Cryptomundo has received more emails telling us that strange and mysterious Mermaid photos supposedly snapped in Mexico, Dominican Republic, or Malaysia are circulating on the Internet. These emails are asking for us to either identify the “Mermaid” or post the photographs on Cryptomundo. But we have already done this. As I mentioned a few days ago when I published several of the photos here, these images are of a taxidermy fake. The object pictured is a piece of art from American Juan Cabana, who is well-known for his smaller fake Feejee Mermaids. It probably was photographed from various angles [...]
