People from South Dakota continue to write me about the July-August reports of something, some things, and more being seen by the Oglala Sioux. What are people saying about the Pine Ridge Bigfoot who live there? Here’s a sampling. I don’t have any directly-related Pine Ridge sketches to go with any of this material because no one has sent any to me. Yet. PynkSpyder writes: Okay, some things are not being said. I’m from this reservation, and, really, you couldn’t go 5 minutes without the topic coming up during that week. I heard from an OST officer, who is a [...]
Gone Where The Goblins Go
Ding-dong the dog is dead Which old dog? The wicked dog Ding-dong the wicked dog is dead Wake up you sleepyhead Rub your eyes, get out of bed Wake up the wicked dog is dead He’s gone where the goblins go. The story of the Maine Mutant or Mystery Beast of Turner, Maine, has just begun. Scholars, scoundrels, and skeptics will write about the case for years, attempting to prove that it says something sinister about the gullibility of humans. But the story is one deeper than that, of media, madness, and mayhem, of jealousy, joining, and journeys. But we’ve [...]
Menagerie of Three: Beast, Blunders, and Bradley
Your humble Cryptomundo cryptozoologist Loren Coleman examines the carcass of the beast or more correctly, what is left of it. In the background are, from left to right, Michelle O’Donnell and Debi Bodwell. This is a Sun Journal photograph by Douglas Van Reeth. Used by permission. Click to enlarge. The August two weeks of the Maine Mutant’s silly season have passed. Surprisingly, the media aftermath has been mild. I noticed on Friday, August 25, 2006, in California, John Boston’s (a/k/a Mr. Santa Clarita Valley) column in The Signal, “Where’s a Hairy MH When You Need One?”, attempted to be humorous, [...]
Nat Geo’s New Hominology Documentary
Recent speculation about National Geographic Channel making a new Bigfoot documentary in West Virginia is groundless. National Geographic Channel’s production team was there recently to do some spot re-creations of events that took place decades ago in East Asia, not about classic Bigfoot, but regarding Almas. I’ve been in communication with them for some time, as hominologist Adam Davies’ expedition to Mongolia in search of Almas was being planned and then being filmed. Now they are doing end-of-the-production tidbits with the re-creations. On March 16, 2006, I exclusively wrote about this documentary here at Cryptomundo. Click to see a larger-sized [...]
Sun Journal: Creature Looks Like A Canine
Click on image for full-size version Photograph by Michelle O’Donnell. Used by permission. The body of the dead animal found in Turner, Maine, according to DNA tests conducted on behalf of and paid for by the Lewiston newspaper, the Sun Journal, belonged to a member of the genus Canis, not a Tasmanian devil, not a rodent, not a Chupacabras, not a hyena, not a werewolf, not an Eastern Bigfoot, and/or not from any wild species speculations that were heard over the last ten days. Nevertheless, it is important to understand, the real Mystery Beast is still out there! Readers of [...]
Mystery Fish Continues
With so many new people here, it’s time to check in with an old favorite of Cryptomundo. The Mystery Fish postcard, first noted here on November 29, 2005, has never been identified, as to exact location or species. Several thousand new readers have found their way to Cryptomundo since November, so here’s a quick revisit to that photographic mystery. (Click on image to see full size version, enhanced by shockbeton) Due to research on the type of postcard it is, there was a determination, thanks to Cryptomundo readers, that this specific item would have been produced between 1904-18. The location [...]
Orang Dalam Appearances
Slowly, recovery does happen. Overcoming the hoax of the drawings, the false anticipation, and then finally the fake photos of the “johor hominid” occurs. It is surely time to move on, and get back to venturing forward with a critical look at the imagery of possibly real hominoids in the rainforest of Malaysia. What are your thoughts on how people have represented the Orang Dalam? The Harry Trumbore illustration (above) of the Orang Dalam places the hominoid within the True Giant classification, and is taken from The Field Guide of Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates, 2006. Here is the Serjarang [...]
Sunday Op-Ed Funnies
Johor Hominid Says: “What’s this I’ve heard about some missing photographs in Maine? Would you like to see some drawings of them?” ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Meanwhile, deep in the rainforests of Malaysia….
Mystery Beast Photos Withdrawn
Update: Ms. O’Donnell changed her mind about the following, and the photographs are to be found on Cryptomundo. August 21, 2006. All of the photographs taken by Michelle O’Donnell of the "Mystery Beast" or "Maine Mutant" have been removed from Cryptomundo. This has been done at her request because she wants Cryptomundo to block anyone from pirating them. Ms. O’Donnell of Route 4, Turner, Maine, also wishes to be paid the sum of one hundred dollars per picture, if you want to order a copy of any of the photographs. Apparently someone at the Associated Press gave her some advice [...]

When the reporter from the Sun-Journal hinted via a comment on my blog at Cryptomundo, then called me, saying he had pictures of a “mystery animal” he wished for me to examine, of course, I thought he was talking about another coyote with mange, running through a field somewhere. I was surprised when he sent along photographs of the body [...]
