More photos of Malaysian tracks make for new analyses and more conjecture on what the prints might be. What individually has been more mystifying in the recent publication of merely one track’s image seems clearer in this asphalt trackway. The Sumatran rhinoceros is rare in Malaysia, but this muddy series of prints appears to show, for the first time, that these are from a rhino double-stepping into its own tracks on this road. This is the newest track from Malaysia, just published on February 28. It is one of three footprints found that were perhaps 20 cm across and 40, [...]
Dracontologist Jacques Boisvert Dies Suddenly
Monster hunter, scuba diver, historian, and ecologist, Jacques Boisvert, died on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at age 73, suddenly, untimely, and quietly, according to the Magog, Quebec newspaper The Outlet. Ironically, Jacques recommended I place myself on the mailing list of this small newspaper, which is not online. The paper’s arrival today was my first awareness of his death. Jacques Boisvert was born on October 11, 1932, in Magog, Quebec, the fourth of five children of Omer Boisvert and Jeanne Estelle Guilbert. He worked for his father’s insurance, investment, and ski management business for many years, assuming ownership in 1988. [...]
Why Frame 352?
Ever notice the underlying motif that subtly is to be found in a large majority of Bigfoot photos, demonstrations, recreations, sketches, and drawings? Ah, it developed from the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin footage, anyone would quickly answer, because everyone is just repeating that famed pose of “Patty.” But then think about it for a minute. There are 952 frames of the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot footage from which to choose. Why did Frame 352 become so famous? What if another frame from that film had been picked and published first? Today it is almost taken for granted that one frame, no. 352 is [...]
What Do You See in This Cast?
This is the footcast found by Joshua Gates of Sci Fi Channel while on a recent Malaysian Bigfoot expedition. Consider the possibilities behind this track and share with Cryptomundo what you observe and consider significant to notice in this cast (below, under comments): Could it be…. A track representation of the Malaysian Mawas? Or Orang Dalam? Or what? How a footprint left by a giant ape survivor related to Gigantopithecus would appear? The reason the finds of the True Giant footprints seem to be four-toed? A reality television prank to see if people believe it? A Malaysian-produced hoax? What? What [...]
Who Was On That Malaysian Expedition?
An explosion of media attention today…at least three articles hitting the internet…news of an expedition…backing by a television show…a photograph of a footprint…and more. Fasten your seat belts. Sometimes it is only location and funding that separate cryptozoologists from the action. As I’ve been suggesting for weeks, Malaysian scientists are the obvious choices for going into the rainforest to look for their own "Bigfoot" first. Reports now from a London paper indicate that a team of "paranormal investigators," including an Australian tracker, a filmmaker from Los Angeles, a reality film crew, and apparently a British reporter are in hot pursuit [...]

Are There Three Kinds of Malaysian Bigfoot?
The story of the "Bigfoot" in the Endau-Rompin National Park, Malaysia, is becoming more complex. It seems like the time is ripe to sort out the media’s reports that the locals are seeing three types of hairy hominoids. According to the Bernama news service, on February 20, 2006, accounts surfaced that the locals, the Orang Asli, living along the Johor-Pahang border, claimed they have seen a variety of different-sized "Bigfoot" in the area. Illustration: Typical True Giant, drawing by Harry Trumbore, from Anomalist Books’ new edition of The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates by Loren Coleman and [...]
“Flying Dinosaurs”
Two new publications have appeared on the little-discussed subject of what is popularly referred to as "flying dinosaurs." These two works, however, are at separate ends of the cryptozoology continuum. One is a non-fiction review of the sightings over North America of pterodactyl-like creatures, and the other is a comic graphic novel. Intriguingly, their promotional imagery is reminiscent of each other. In Volume 10, Number 2 of the journal Wonders, cryptozoologist and the journal’s editor Mark A. Hall tackles living dinosaurs, first in an article about ones that soar. The flying variety over his home continent are detailed. Also Hall [...]
Are Malaysian Bigfoot Colonies Really Orangutans?
National pride, long term observations, reports of a colony, and a supposedly novel theory are the breaking news out of Malaysia today. But wait a minute, is the Johor Wildlife Protection Society merely talking about orangutans? News out of Malaysia on February 18, 2006, indicates that the Johor Wildlife Protection Society says they have: scientific evidence to prove the existence of Bigfoot whose reported sightings recently in the Johor jungles have excited the world’s media. Not just one Bigfoot but a whole colony of the giant, hairy creatures which the society named "Orang Lenggor" (Lenggor People) as one was spotted [...]
Malaysian Bigfoot: Footprint Photos & Drawing
The media items from Malaysia of the ongoing Bigfoot investigations, of course, are sounding less and less like the traditional Pacific Northwest Bigfoot. No surprise there. More elaborate photographs of the track finds have been published, and illustrations of the folk art representing the creatures have been printed, as well. The Asian Paranormal Investigation findings run 49 pages long, and, in essence, deconstructs the media and wonders if there’s a “Bigfoot” at all behind the sightings. The API report concludes the encounters are with Malay orangutans. Of course, cryptozoologically speaking, this would still be a worthy discovery, as orangutans have [...]
