Yeti and The Number 23

Virginia Madsen stars in The Number 23, opening in the USA on February 23, 2007. As reported in promotional interviews about the movie, Madsen was asked: “How did you learn about the number 23 phenomenon? Virginia, had you heard of the phenomenon?” Yes, because I think all that stuff is really fun, the shows on the Discovery Channel about ghosts and the Yeti and UFOs, which I totally believe in, so I’d heard about it. But I didn’t know how vast it was until really the first day of production. I’d sort of been online and I came in and [...]

I can assure you that this is going to draw phenomenal interest. It is truly amazing.Steve O’Shea Auckland’s University of Technology On February 22, 2007, various sources, including the BBC News announced that New Zealand Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton said a Colossal Squid ( Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni), estimated as 33 feet (10 meters) long and 990 pound (450 kilograms) in weight, has been captured. Update: What-Is-It Solved

The origins of the What-Is-It? that rests comfortably in that pawn shop has been solved. It is a creative taxidermy piece produced by Sarina Brewer, an artist well-known for her rogue creations. The following photographs, from her Custom Creature Taxidermy website, is her “Chupacabra” (sic), showing all its angles. Thanks to research conducted by a Cryptomundo reader Robert Dolan, in revealing this obvious connection. Sarina Brewer [...]

Jeb’s Cryptids of Mardi Gras

One of the themes this year at Mardi Gras is “Legends and Lore of the Deep,” and so naturally cryptozoology is represented. Jeb Card has taken some great photos of some of the cz-themed floats, which he shares. (That specific theme is for Proteus, one of the over a dozen krewes, which are individual crews or communities of people who design, build, and people the floats.) This is incredibly good stuff, these photos of his “Cryptids of Mardi Gras.” See more here. Thanks to Jeb for sharing these with me overnight. Hope Jeb and all the folks are having fun [...]
