Thunderbird Film Discovered
Wisconsin writer and investigator Todd Roll has discovered an early forgotten, overlooked film that coincidentally appeared as a precursor to the famous Thunderbird flap in the 1970s. The movie was released in 1974, and entitled The Legend of Hillbilly John. Three years later, with the attempted airborne abduction of Marlon Lowe by two giant birds at Lawndale, Illinois, on July 25, 1977, the modern era of Thunderbird sightings began. The first investigator on the scene was my brother, Jerry, and the first write-up of the case came from his rough notes in Creatures of the Outer Edge. Based on a [...]
New Primate Species is New Genus
Reuters is reporting today that a newly discovered primate is actually a new genus, not a new species, in dispatches such as this one: "New monkey species is more unique than thought". The report says, in part: The new monkey, at first called the highland mangabey but now known as kipunji, is more closely related to baboons than to mangabey monkeys, but in fact deserves its own genus and species classification, the researchers reported in the journal Science. So they have re-named it Rungwecebus kipunji, and it is the first new genus of a living primate from Africa to be [...]
Menehune Today
I had an excellent time on The Coast to Coast AM radio program (gulp, from 2 am to 5 am my time!) last night. George Noory and I shared high energy, great fun, and we moved through several topics you’ve been reading about here at Cryptomundo (e.g. Malaysian Mawas, Mt. Hood Bigfoot, Argentina Lake Monster, Thunderbird, Mothman, and Lizardmen). The crypto-cat fight was even briefly mentioned. In the last hour, we also had wonderful callers. A recap of the program and link to the audio in their archives can be found here. The first caller was a remarkable one. The [...]
Pete Loh’s Latest
Pete Loh in Singapore writes that the first sketch he attempted, according to Vincent Chow, has the hair a bit wrong. Chow says the hair on the shoulders is much longer and hanging. Loh just sent this third sketch incorporating the second sketch’s facial features and the longer shoulder hair. Have a look. Here’s the first and second drawings of what Chow is saying he’s seeing in the photos. This is not an exact science, but would like to let this unfold in front of you all so you can share, from the inside, as this develops. Of course, like [...]
The Abominable Snowman: The Movie
Click image for a larger version In a new May 11, 2006, interview in Australia’s Moviehole, super producer Ilya Salkind notes that among his current projects is "a new film based on the mythic The Abominable Snowman." This is important to hear as it gives fresh news, the first since 2003, that The Abominable Snowman is still going to be made. In a press release on April 28, 2003, Emmett/Furla Films and Ilya Salkind (Superman) announced that they have joined forces to develop and produce a feature film entitled The Abominable Snowman. Gale Anne Hurd (The Hulk) was also in [...]
Are Eastern Bigfoot Aggressive?
I was talking to Roger Knights today, about the August 13, 1965 story of Monroe, Michigan, when Christine van Acker and her mother Mrs. Ruth Owens, had an encounter with a black 7-feet tall Bigfoot. The Bigfoot reached inside their car, giving Christine a black eye. Knights reminded me that it might not have been an “unprovoked assault” from the Bigfoot’s point of view, because their car had “brushed past” the Bigfoot before coming to a stop. Maybe I have been blaming the eastern Bigfoot for being too aggressive? Maybe not? Talking about this case certainly reminded me of other [...]
Crypto-Cat-Fight Goes International
The New Straits Times has decided to step into the middle of the American crypto-cat-fight over the Malaysian melodrama. Here’s what they are saying… ——————————————————————————– The New Straits Times Identification key to protecting Johor Bigfoot 10 May 2006 By R. Sittamparam JOHOR BARU: Until researchers have determined the species and family of the Johor Bigfoot, its only completely safe haven is Johor. The Wildlife Department says scientific identification is a prerequisite for declaring it a totally protected species. The State Government has announced total protection for Bigfoot. This means it is forbidden to injure, capture, kill or transport the animal [...]
Crypto-Cat-Fight Continues
Oh no, Matt Moneymaker. Watch out! Here comes Daniel Perez and a possible future treatment in The Bigfootimes. Perez is telegraphing to the world that he’s interested in gathering stories that people have been telling online and privately for years about Moneymaker. As Perez posted on a public forum yesterday: "The more I hear about Moneymaker’s activities, the more I think he should be exposed for what he is." As far as a quick update on our May 7th posting, entitled "BFRO Declares War on Cryptomundo," Cryptomundo informants discovered soon afterwards that some rapid editing occurred at the BFRO. Aware [...]
