Of course, there probably were other reasons, but, at least, in one celebrity case, it seems to have helped!
Should you pick your next relationship because of a mutual love for cryptozoology? Humans have used less important measures, haven’t they?
Maria Bello (Coyote Ugly, The Jane Austen Book Club, Thank You for Smoking, and A History of Violence) on March 10, 2010.
Her story is well worth pondering.
Actress Maria Bello is reportedly going to get married to a man because he understands her love of “politics, Africa and cryptozoology,” she has stated to the media.
“It doesn’t hurt that he is 13 years younger and gorgeous,” said the “Pacific Coast News,” in a blog where they mentioned “cryptozoology” in their headline.
Of course, Mario Bello is rather beautiful herself, plus intelligent, since one of her yardsticks is cryptozoology, if you ask me.
Maria Bello celebrates a birthday this coming weekend. She was born on April 18, 1967, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, having arrived only a few months before the Patterson-Gimlin footage. She was a scholar and popular, being a varsity cheerleader at Archbishop John Carroll High School in suburban Philadelphia. Ms. Bello continued her education at Villanova University, majoring in political science. She had every intention of becoming a lawyer, but she took an acting class during her senior year, just for fun. She discovered she was very good at it, and, the rest, as they say, is film and television history. She has had a successful acting career.
Then, Ms. Bello met 28-year-old musician/artist/waiter/cryptozoology fan Bryn Mooser, when he served her lunch at her birthday party, three years ago. (We wish them happiness on their anniversary on the 18th.)
“I was always anti-marriage. I didn’t understand monogamy. I couldn’t figure out how that could last. And then I met Bryn and I started to understand the beauty of constancy and history and change and going on the roller coaster with someone – of having a partner in life,” the actress told her hometown paper, The Norristown Times Herald.
The happy couple in 2008.
Bryn Mooser formally became her fiance on July 26, 2008; a date for the wedding has not been announced.

Maria Bello as Evelyn O’Connell in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
In 2008, Maria Bello starred in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as Evelyn Carnahan “Evy” O’Connell, taking over from Rachel Weisz. Bello played the attractive but rough and tumble lead, while sharing some screen time with the Yetis of the film. (I rather liked her rugged version of the role.) Bello has stated that she is under contract for three more Mummy films.
Ms. Bello can take care of herself, btw, as she practices Muay Thai (lethal) kickboxing.
We look forward to Ms. Bello’s and Mr. Mooser’s forthcoming visit to the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
