From the Diné (the Navajo)….
This breaking notice has just been sent my way:
NAVAJO SKINWALKER CAUGHT ON TAPE
National Geographic’s NAVAJO COPS series has captured the sounds and VIDEO of a mysterious Bigfoot-like creature that the local Navajo call “The Howler.”
NAVAJO COPS’ premier episode showed the reservation’s tribal police force investigating reports of a mysterious sounds from a creature called “The Howler.” Some on the reservation claimed the howling came from a Bigfoot, others said it was a Skinwalker – a malevolent, werewolf-like Navajo spirit made famous in Tony Hillerman’s novels.
In the upcoming NAVAJO COPS episode called “Eyes of the Howler,” officers pursue reports of the creature deep into the back-country, where a SWAT team encounters the disturbing howls (caught on audio) and track the noise to a cave – where video reveals a disturbing set of red-rimmed eyes…
The Navajo Nation police department makes it a policy to investigate supernatural encounters… though “Eyes of the Howler” episode has the best video and audio evidence of the mysterious being.
You can see and hear some of the best evidence of this Navajo version of Bigfoot on NAVAJO COPS – “Eyes of the Howler,” National Geographic Channel, Monday March 19, 10 pm.
Further details are coming in…this from an individual involved: “I’m supervising producer on the series. I wasn’t with the crew that shot the Howler footage… but I can tell you that cameramen and producers were thoroughly spooked. Not only did they hear the weird howling -which freaked them out – they all saw this pair of eyes watching them from a small cave… and the eyes disappeared by the time the police arrived there. I don’t know how to explain the phenomena (and there may be dozens of ‘ordinary’ explanations) but I do know that the traditional Navajo officers were convinced they had encountered, heard and seen a Skinwalker, with the results caught on tape.”
Here is how the program is being promoted on the NatGeo schedule site:
“10:00 PM to 11:00 PM Navajo Cops: Eyes of the Howler
“Navajo Police Officers mount a new hunt for The Howler a mysterious creature believed to have killed dogs and livestock. Some of the elders in the community suspect it might be a Skinwalker, while others insist that its the Navajo version of Bigfoot. As they sweep through a remote canyon, the heavily-armed cops actually hear the chilling sound caught on tape and they think its coming from a cave high in the cliffs. Have they finally tracked down the elusive Howler?”
So the creature’s full body is on video? I would love to see this. Let’s hope it’s not a hoax to get ratings -_- Will this be the year of Cryptid Exposure?
I don’t get it. Is it supposed to be some new species of coyote? The picture up top appears to represent a dog or wolf-like face.
Thorough investigation is in order here. Following questions need answers
1. Was this indeed a hoax perpetrated to get ratings for the show
2. Was the film altered with CGI or contains evidence of other movie magic techniques and tools?
3. Have all possible animals been ruled out (Coyote, cougar, perhaps an exotic out of place animal…?)
4. Besides film, is there any other evidence collected (tracks, hair, scat?)
Cannot wait to view the film, but remember: still just a film without a body, major parts of one, or a live specimen!
Hi All,
I love cryptomundo and just registered. I found this photo “Giant primate-bigfoot-thing (Skinwalker?) in the Navajo Indian Reservation“, would like your thoughts on it…
Yes I had failed to read the part “Red-Rimmed Eyes”. Yeah, I’m going to agree with Hapa on #4. If the howling is near the red eyes, then it must be an unknown animal or cryptid. Although, I don’t think it’s a spirit. I think it’s just a large canine, maybe a giant extinct wolf… or a very large primate… Baboons do have deadly teeth! Why not a large monkey. Preferably a “Unknown Giant Baboon”… Maybe Apes like Bigfoot (if it exist) may not be the only primate in the United States and Canada… If Bigfoot is a ape? Then I would assume a large north American Monkeys (NAM) would exist as well. I was surprised to read about the extinct North American Lion. Although they have fossils, not all bones become fossils. So I wouldn’t rule out primates.
If the picture above is a real animal and if it’s a Skinwalker… It does seem Canine like and If you can Loren, can you make it clear if that picture is real or fake? It would really help most of us out that never seen that picture before. I’m also debating if that picture is real.
I just googled Giant Monkeys. Here’s a link that backs up my Giant North American Baboon Theory and Giant North American Monkey theory.
“The Howler a mysterious creature believed to have killed dogs and livestock”
Dogs and chickens=coyote. Dogs and cows=? Big difference.
@Hapa The problem I am anticipating is that because it is a “skinwalker,” i.e., a human shapeshifter, any physical evidence is most likely going to be human, and so inconclusive.
I’m with shmargin, just another bad redux of “The Blair Witch Project.”
The thing in ED62′s link does not look to me like the thing being described in the topic post. There is nothing canine in the image.
There are things commonly seen in the Southwestern deserts that can look a lot like ED62′s picture. My first impression of the image was that it was a dead stump of a joshua tree. These things die and turn dark, sometimes with a smaller protrusion atop the stump. However, looking closer, there appears to be muscle definition in the areas that would be the pectorals and abs. So, unless my eyes are trying to see more than is there, it could be an ape-like creature.
If what we see are pects and abs, the thing must be facing the camera, yet I can discern no facial detail at all. Which brings us back to the stump.
The image at the top of the original article is obviously CG, and probably bears no resemblance at all to whatever is shown in the show. I am not expecting anything revealing in this program. It will be a surprise if it is not just a repackaged “Monster Quest”.
@Shmargin: yeah I missed that part. Either way I have a feeling it’s a giant baboon.
