What the 500+ folks aboard didn’t see (below) during the Labor Day Sea Serpent Whale Watch:

What we did see on the September 5, 2009 afternoon tour (thanks to new Bar Harbor Whale Watch photos by Laura Howes, College of the Atlantic, via Zack Klyver):

Basking shark (confirmed, updated number was five, of which one is shown here).

Humpback whales (confirmed named individuals, Littlespot and Knuckles, plus one unidentified whale).

Thanks to photos from Bill and Rebecca Edmondson, this is the shy minke whale above and below, that stayed as far away as the Sea Serpents, during the morning trek into the Bay of Fundy.

Sea Serpents will exist…in the museum, at least in art and replicas.
