This may be the perfect gift for the Holidays, for all fans of Homo floresiensis.
Someone has produced teeshirts that say “LB1 is not microcephalic!” ~ in organic men’s tees and colorful women’s styles.
LB1, of course, is the name of the first subfossil cranium identified as a Homo floresiensis. The hominin was dubbed LB1 because it was unearthed inside the Liang Bua Cave on the island of Flores, Indonesia. This individual would have been full-grown at 3 feet 6 inches. (LB1 was a female, please recall, despite the first reconstruction of her as a male by National Geographic.)
Debunkers apparently have incorrectly claimed LB1 is only the remains of a microcephalic individual, despite the fact that now partial skeletons of nine individuals have been recovered, including the one complete cranium (skull labeled LB1) of Homo floresiensis.
BTW, these shirts are not available at the ICM (although extended hours are). Just noticed the shirts online and wanted to share the info here.
