On Halloween 2009, WGME-TV, Portland, ran a story and good video of the finishing preparation of the International Cryptozoology Museum, taken during the afternoon of October 31st.
It was entitled “Bigfoot in Portland.”
The video is said to exist online here.
The text of their story is below.
A new museum opening November 6th in Portland will play host to an eight foot tall, 400 pound model of Bigfoot.
The cryptozoology museum is located on Congress Street inside the Green Hand Bookstore.
The curator, Loren Coleman, is one of the country’s leading cryptozoologists.
He says cryptozoology uses the scientific method to expose new species. He also cites famous examples, such as the Mountain Gorilla and Giant Panda. Both of those animals were considered “cryptids” – known only through testimonials and scant evidence – before being fully discovered.
Other cryptids include The Loch Ness Monster, the Yeti and, of course, Bigfoot.
The Museum will include replicas of these creatures as well as artifacts and souvenirs from around the world.
Loren Coleman has a blog tracking the world of cryptozoology, Cryptomundo.com.
