The SyFy network has announced their new film on the winged weirdies of West Virginia. It happens this weekend. Does the timing of its broadcast predict the death of someone linked to Mothman? Shall the banshee underpinnings associated with the Mothman “death curse” lore come true again? Who will die this weekend? We will keep you updated here.
This new science fiction film is not directly based on John A. Keel’s book, The Mothman Prophecies (1975), or my books, Mothman and Other Curious Encounters (2002), or Mothman: Evil Incarnate (2011, postponed from 2008 for obvious evil reasons).
The Face of Evil? Nope, it is Jewel Staite from Firefly, ready to take on another flying horror in Mothman.
Here’s what SyFy says about their new movie:
Jewel Staite (Firefly, Stargate Atlantis) stars in Mothman, premiering Saturday, April 24, at 9 PM (ET/PT) on the SyFy cable channel. In the movie, the legendary West Virginia monster returns to exact revenge on five childhood friends who covered up an accidental killing. Produced by Brad Krevoy and Reuben Liber. Directed by Sheldon Wilson. Written by Sonny Lee and Patrick Walsh.

The download of the MonsterQuest Mothman episode is available here.
Furthermore, Nick Redfern tells me that Richard Gere’s 2002 The Mothman Prophecies has been on cable channels all week.
Maybe there is really something in the air, for the weekend!
Stay tuned.
