‘Monster Quest’ star explores Maine oddities Village Soup
WALDOBORO : Internationally recognized cryptozoologist Loren Coleman will speak 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Waldo Theatre, Main Street/Route 220.
Involved in the study of unknown animals since 1960, Coleman first began writing about the subject in 1969. Since then, he has authored 30 books and hundreds of articles.
Coleman has appeared frequently on radio and television programs and has lectured throughout North America, as well as in London and at Loch Ness. He has been both an on- and off-camera consultant to NBC-TV’s “Unsolved Mysteries,” A&E’s “Ancient Mysteries,” History Channel’s “In Search of History,” Discovery Channel’s “In the Unknown ” and other reality-based programs. Currently, he serves as a frequent guest on “Monster Quest.”
Coleman will be speaking about all manner of Maine oddities including sea serpents, black panther sightings and, yes, Bigfoot. Following his presentation, he will be available for book signings and autographs.

Sea Monster Expert to Speak FenceViewer
BAR HARBOR — Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman will be a featured guest speaker on Bar Harbor whale watching tours on Saturday, Sept. 5. Mr. Coleman is one of the world’s leading authorities on the study of hidden or legendary animals such as Bigfoot, sea serpents, the Loch Ness Monster, and Chupacabras. He has authored more than 30 books including The Field Guide to Lake Monsters, Sea Serpents, and Other Mystery Denizens of the Deep, coauthored with Patrick Huyghe.
On Saturday’s tours, Mr. Coleman will be speaking on the way back from regular whale watch trips about the history of sea serpent sightings along the coast of Maine and in the Bar Harbor area. These sightings include two reported by area lobster fishermen in the fall of 2003 in the upper part of Frenchman Bay.
