Here are images of Bill Brock’s Chain of Ponds, Maine, footprints he cast over the weekend before August 16th when he showed them to me – and which he has publicly published on Facebook.

These tracks and the video that Mr. Bill Brock has circulated have been analyzed by a Maine Guide and certified tracker, who notes the following:

I’ve looked at the casts, and there are some that certainly look like moose tracks to me. Especially where it appears as though they tracked this up a hill. Moose will often step back foot into front while going uphill, as do deer. However, I cannot say how the curvature to the track would occur, other than the deepest depression would be in the center, where the front and rear hoof overlap.

I will say, however, that my first thought upon seeing the photo with the human foot for comparison is that it looked like the rear paw of a bear to me.
