Zoo Lockdown: Monkey Escapes

A routine escape is getting international news. You know why.

Fox News is reporting that the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle is in lockdown because a monkey has escaped, from Monkey Island.

Needless to say, this kind of thing happens all the time. The only reason we’re hearing about it is due to the recent chimp attack news. (How bad was it? “Victim Lost Eyes, Nose, and Jaw” ~ warning, graphic content.)

It’s a DeBrazza’s monkey, Cercopithecus neglectus.

Breaking update at 11:35 am Pacific: It’s been recaptured. He was free for 30 minutes.

Media prediction: Every animal attack or zoo escape happening in the next week will be over-publicized.
