George Will, a Cubs fan, said he could never root for the Cardinals growing up because they cheated--they used real athletes.

Your son does a great job. We welcome Tom Caron, Jim and Eck into our home every night during the season (Is it 7:05 yet?). NESN is like family. Tell Malcolm thanks.

One of these days, I'm going to bring the wife and kids up to Portland, go to the ICM, see a Sea Dogs game, and then maybe have some of those french fries from Duck Fat. Cheers.

I grew up in the midst of a family of Cubs' fans. Well, there was one Chicago-area uncle who was a White Sox's fan. But I was the only one in the core family unit who was a true red Cardinals' fan. The overreaching fan-orientation, however, was for the Decatur Commodores, who were a AAA-level minor league farm team of the Giants and Cardinals. I still have a first love for minor league ball (Portland Sea Dogs).

However, I've been in New England since 1975, and am a true Red Sox fan these days. Besides, my son Malcolm produces the pre-game shows on NESN, the Red Sox flagship station, and blood is thicker than my Illinois roots.

Loren,

So I have to ask the big question: growing up, Cubs, White Sox, or (gasp) Cardinals? I think you have since come to the light of the "one true baseball faith."

But back in the day...?
